to swap, or not to swap

lately I've been thinking about picking up this 91 RS with a 3.1L. But I was thinking, should I do an engine swap on it? Not so that I could have more power, but because parts are much easier to get ahold of for a 305 or 350. How hard is it to do engine swaps in a 3rd gen? I'd just need to swap out the engine/ecm and tranny, and worry about the suspension later, right?

A engine swaps are easy in 3rd gen cars. However; using a V6 car will make everything a little harder because almost nothing from it can be used with a V8

Re: to swap, or not to swap

I found an LT1 SS Camaro (95 I think) on ebay for 1100 bux. Pick that bad boy up and you'll have everything you need for a swap =P Personally, I say find a V8 with lots of miles or a blown engine. Will probably be cheaper in the long run. But if you want to swap in a 305 i'll sell you my 305TPI =P Runs like a champ I just need more power

If you got the time, energy, and funds to do a swap, then I would go for it. Otherwise, I would just look for a third gen with either a 305 or 350. They are not too hard to come by.

Re: to swap, or not to swap

Just do the swap. No need to go buy a car already done. I personally take more pride in my car when i have done the work to my own cars and don't buy them already done. But, I guess it all really depends on the person. swapping isn't all that hard, just locating the parts takes time, but thats the point of a project.
