Wink

As far as I know, everyone with a T-5 has this problem, myself included. Its actually kind of annoying to cuz it makes u look like u dont know how to drive stick, especially in public places where it attracts attention. Anyhow, everyone that I've talked to said its because of the fact that reverse doesnt have a synchro. I'm guessing that these trannys must not line up good inside with age cuz mine grinds alot more than it used to. Sometimes it can be minimized if you try shifting into 3rd, then 2nd, and then trying to hit reverse. If anyone else has any info to offer, I'd liove to hear it.

you might wanna try tightening your clutch pedal because if it's loose it may seem like you have it in all the way but you may not!

A simple fix for this is to shift into a forward gear right before going into reverse. Stop shift into first, third or fifth and then shift to reverse. You will have no grinding. Hope this helps.

Yep just shift into 1st then it should pop right into reverse. At least thats what I did to minimize the grind.

Wait until you come to a full stop before shifting into reverse.

I had the same problem on my first car, an 87 300zx turbo, it always grinded a bit and sometimes wouldnt go into gear and then, i sit there reved the engine and everyone just looks at you cause your not moving. But the same trick applies i found when i put it in first then into reverse it didnt grind

I had the same problem with my T5.
Forward gear and then reverse worked everytime for me too.

you said it was a loose clutch pedal! and all you have to do is go to a forward gear like everyone else said (i.e. 5th) then into reverse.

YES, exactly. T5s don't have syncros in rev. Like everyone said, go fifth or fourth, then reverse. Once you get good at it, you go fast, it looks good too!

see for reverse there are no syncronizers, that's why you hear the grinding nose...

but i never heard of shifting right from a forward gear into reverse... i'll have to try that out
