t-top compatibility
went to the wreckers today they had 3 firebirds/trans ams all with t-tops still in them
will firebird t-tops fit a camaro? and how do i tell what kind they are. ie the fastener type? glass/lexan? peg/post? i think. and what do i look for to tell if they are any good?

I believe she's backwards on the years. 82-83 should be hook and 84 up should be pin. Camaro and Firebird are 100% compatible. You'll be able to tell glass from Lexan by the weight...glass tops are MUCH heavier.

I put some Lexan T-tops from a 89 Formula into my 87 Camaro. The weight savings was around 5 pounds each. I took them apart and changed the locks around so I could still use my key to lock them.

Something else to consider is that the lexan tops use a large diameter locking pin whereas the glass ones use a small diameter locking pin. At least, that's my experience based on my having a 1984 T-top car. I bought some 1991 lexan T-tops and couldn't install them because the locking pin was too large to fit my car's pin sockets. I still haven't gotten the bigger diameter pin sockets, so the lexan tops sit downstairs instead of on my car.
