Standard reply get a 350 or just be happy with what you have. Anything you do will cost money and show no great performance increase. It can be done, but performace (horsepower) cost money and a 305 TBI is not a good base to start from.

Headers, full exhaust, open element air filter, suspention mods, gears, posi. Anything else and you need to get into tuning.

I have a K&N filter to help it breath better, $10 plus shipping and I'll clean it before I send it. :-) , retails for $35. Look in the for sale thread or email me.

Get a LO5 350 block out of a 89-91 b body

Ditch the stock swirl heads

Get Vortec heads and intake from scoggin or Pace

cheap LT1 cam from someone on this board

You'll end up with a nice little pkg.

my suggestion is ditch the throttle body and get a carb. if you do want to keep the TBI, get a better one and a different intake. the TBI cars had low HP and TQ ratings. but work with what you have. i would start with the manifold, then maybe some rockers and a cam swap. then do your exaust. spintech all the way

Well like me you got the bottom of the food chain when it comes to V8's. But don't get discouraged this little motor when given a little love can make power just don't expect it to do it overnight. Change Your Heads, Intake, Throttle Body, Cam, Exhaust Manifold (Get Some Good Headers), and get some underdrive pullies to reduce PHL*. And beef up your suspension a little bit. People are going to say that modding a TBI 305 isn't worth your time. But I think they're wrong any V8 has potential it all depends on what you want to do with it. But good luck and have fun with your Camaro.

Check this out if you want.

I am no fan of the 305 that is why I am replaing my tired 305 with a fresh 350 in my 85 1/2 ton, but, if the engine in your car is healthy and you don't have a lot of $$ there is a few ponies available just not enough to go fight with LS1, LT1,

anyway take a read

Yes. This is exactly what Id do if I was starting over again. Heres the order Id do stuff:

Open element
Posi and 3.42 or 3.73 gears
Headers, cat, catback
Subframe connections

Its not gonna make you blaze up the streets but its gonna make the car a lot more enjoyable.

Check my website if you're serious about heads/cam/intake etc...

how much are those subframe connectors and how much are they to install. and on that website two posts above this they said that my engine was roller read, how much are these roller cams and rocker arms? and that website was cool 'pearlpurple' made me kinda happy to have what i got for an engine. and if i want a 350 bad enough i'll just go out and buy a Z28, preferably a 4th gen.

I dont really put much stock in what he has to say as he never really attempted any of the stuff he writes about. He has too much the "I bolt this on and gete 15 hp. 15 + 30 from other parts ... " when it never happens like that.

With the 305 I went with a small stock LT1 cam, which was $35 shipped. Its a pretty popular mod now, I dont think anyone has a really good tuned setup though. They're cheap and effective.

As for SFCs, they're about $180 new from spohn or thunderracing, and I paid $75 for mine to get installed. I run BMR ones but they do not make them anymore.

the BMR design will be re-released this summer along with a K member for the 3rd gens. i mailed BMR several times about the frames and they told me this summer they are going to sell them once again. if you want frames, those are worth waiting for
