Are these tires any good?

Kumho, Sumitomo, and Continental? I am replacing a set of BF Goodrich's. I have about $500 to spend, what are your recommendations?

I've always had luck with yokohama's. They look sharp too.

Continental ContiExtreme Contacts are awesome! My friend has them on his 94 Mustang GT with 2500 stall, 3.73's, and a few exhaust mods. With 150 lbs of sand in the trunk, his car will plow through snow like it has fwd. Theyre great in the rain, and are awesome on dry roads too. Nice and quiet, and the tread seems to hold up well. Only complaint with them is the sidewalls are a bit soft for really aggressive cornering.

I have a set coming this week too

Another good tire to consider that wont cost you much is the Firestone Firehawk Indy 500...real similar perfrmance to the Continentals for right around the same price...tirerack.com has them for $88/each.

I just put a set of Kuhmo 712's on mine last week. I like them so far, but haven't had the chance to do any really aggressive driving on them. They came highly recommended by a few 4th gen guys, and at $83 apiece from TireRack.com (245 50ZR16) you just can't beat the price.

Don't ever take them out in the snow though...everyone says that's a good way to get yourself killed. That's not a problem for me as I live in the South where there's no such thing as snow.

you should be able to get alot of things for that much. i really like my pilots. i think they were xg or xgh4's. i love my toyo proxies. kuhmo makes a good affordable tire too.

look over at tire rack as their prices are pretty good.

what is with the younger generation and this talk of rice?

say what you will, most of the companies outsource their tires.

The best tires I've owned (not counting my current tires which I have yet to fully evaluate) were the Falken ZE-502's that I just took off the car. They were much better than the Yoko's that were on the car when I bought it. I had Cooper Cobra GTZ's on it after the Yoko's and they were great, but I liked the Falken's best, and yes RiceKiller they're Japanese tires. So are the Kuhmo's I'm running now. Pirelli makes some of the best tires on the road, but since they're euro-trash (Italian) I guess you won't be running those either. No ET Streets for you (Nitto is a foreign company) and you can forget about ANY decent car stereo equipment. It's all made overseas, even the big domestic companies like Pioneer and Alpine import their products.

I had the Kuhmos, I guess I cant say that they're a bad tire, but there is a reason they're $86 a piece. Dont drive them in the snow, lol that's a death wish. Tread ware is ok, I had a blow out in my right rear (non posi action baby!) after about ~25k miles, but the two fronts are still 50% alive.

I honestly won't buy ***-Crap tires for my car either..
Nitto's are ***-Crap, for clarification.
I use Good Year Eagle GT2's, and they are fine for me. 90 bucks thru my friends mom, dealer price..

"***-crap tires"... You and ricekilla... *shakes head* You boys need some edumacation.

Won't put any "*** crap" in your car huh? Your stereo's probably *** crap. Lots of the parts under your hood are "*** crap". Whether or not you like it, that's how it is.

And this blind "ricers are bad" thing is just silly. Yeah, I hate the obnoxious fart-piped bodykitted monstrosities too... But when you line up with an STi next, you just feel comforted because the car beating your *** is still just "*** crap". Regardless of your opinion, they're obviously doing SOME things right.

Some of the best tires I've seen and used have been "*** crap". Yes, there are many good american brands, but what is the point of limiting yourself to a small group of tires?

That's all I have to say. Felt like ranting.
