Torque converter lockup

Whats up new to the board my first post.I want to find out if my torque converter is locking up. Going about 70 on the highway my motor turns up to 3000 RPMs in overdrive.Just wondering if that is normal for my car with a 700r4 and the stock 2.73 gear, since my friends 454 SS runs about 3250 RPMs at the same speed with the stock 400 and a deeper gear.

Lockup? It doesn't even sound like you are in OD. With my 2.77s I was around 2k in OD locked up @ 70mph.

Something isn't right with that setup. I had 3.42 gears and it would pull somewhere around 2400 RPM on the highway at that speed.

w/my 3:73's, Im going 80mph @ 3Krpm. w/o the lockup hooked up yet. somethings wrong. slipping trans maybe? def. make sure your fluid is full and in good shape. it needs to be bright red and not smell burnt. good luck.

The transmission has been like that ever since i have had the car, about a year. After i bought the car i changed all the fluids in the car and it still rode the same. I checked the oil and it is still fine and at normal levels.
