Lightbulb Transmission Temp.

I was think about putting a trans. temp. gauge in my car, just to monitor when I do auto-x. You guys think i can install one where the drain plug is on my t-5?

Anyone ever done this?

I doubt you need one. A manual transmission doesn't create a lot of heat unless you're pulling heavy loads. There's no way an F-body could heat up the oil in a manual transmission high enough to need to worry about it.

An automatic transmission should have a gauge with a high stall torque converter because the converter makes a lot of heat. High temperature is the number one killer of automatic transmissions.

Lack of oil kills manual transmissions.

Sure you could put a sender there with the appropriate fittings, but I agree that it would be relatively pointless. Engine oil temperature could be good to know, but trans temp is only important for automatics.
