ok I go the tremec 3550 installed in my 86 Z-28... But the Stick sits about 1/2 inch too far forward... it keeps smacking into the console. They gave me a little slab of metal ( about 1" by 1' by 1/4") that matches the the bolt pattern on the shifter when they sent it... Do I weld the shifter to that slab and re-attach it via the slab? if so could I just drill holes in the slab on the other end and nut & bolt it together? I don't have a welder available, unless I pay to have it done.

Also Is there a shifter/stick you would recommend me purchasing? I would really just like the stick but I can always save up for the combo.

I will try to get some pics up tomorrow if that doesn't make sense.
