Trunk Dont Open
#2
i have a pretty bad/sad story to add to this post, maybe we can resolve both
im glad the car has back seats, or i would have no place to put my stuff.
my trunk worked, it worked great, i could put stuff in it and i was happy. the power trunk pop motor didnt work. the car came with a new one. i said "this doesnt look to hard" so i took the old one off. easy.
i put the new one on. easy. it bolted in, and the hammer from the pop motor slipped under this gear that goes to the lock fine.
i closed the trunk and went to the button to see if it worked.
i pushed the button *thunk* "yay it worked" i said cheefully, proud that i got it right the first time without even being too sober.
but the trunk was not popped. i tried the key, it would not turn. i immediatly realised i put the hammer on the wrong side of the gear. i already have enough keys to this car i dont want to wreck the lock by drilling it all out. then id have an ignition key, front door key (i replaced the locks) a gas cap key and if i drill it a seperate trunk key?! i dont want that.
the rear panel to the trunk is loose, i didnt reattach it to the body, but my car has that 'trunk hinged cover console stowage' thing. so i was thinking, maybe i could dremel into that bar thats on the hatch with a carbide bit, if i can rip that back plastic panel off.
or does anyone else have any ideas?
