anyone here running a tubular front end?

what brand and do you think they can hold up on a "street" car?


alot of conflicting stories when i searched throughout the internet. haven't met anyone using them on the street yet though.

I'm running the PA Racing k-member and a-arms with no problems. I drive it everyday to work, 2 hours to the racetrack, etc and it holds up just fine. I did get the mild steel instead of the chrome moly because I heard mild steel is better for a daily driver.

As for the horror stories you might have heard...well if you run into a pothole at full speed I'm sure you'll tear up something, whether you're using an aftermarket or stock setup. I never have these problems because I avoid them. I just think people expect too much from these things, like they're gonna go off roading or something. But for everyday use, the tubular stuff is great.

Anybody hear anything about the BMR k member?

all i've heard is it's heavier than most which gives way for more strength but defeats the overall purpose....i'm sure it's nice, but not what i'm looking for.

i'm looking at either a anthony jones or pa setup. i'd like chromoly but so many seem to be against it for the street.

how come you went with a pa setup and not bmr like the rest of your parts?

looks like it's the mild steel version...is it not? how come you went with the spring perches over the coil over? was it strictly a cost issue?

have you driven it on the street yet?

Also, the car is not finished yet, so no its not been driven on the street..

I have the PA Racing Mild steel k member in my 95 Z, i drive it a lot on the street with no problems at all, I love the tubular suspension. Feels like im riding on rails.

I'm no expert when it comes to suspension design, etc but I've read that chromemoly will "break" if hit hard enough, while mild steel will just "bend". So I'm guessing that's why most people recommend mild steel for a daily driver.

The other is price as 385LT1 mentioned. It's a lot more money for chrome moly only to save what...about 5 lbs at the most? And then it may not be good for a daily driver. Hope that helps a little.

yeah that was pretty much my understanding only it's a larger amount than 5lbs.........not that it's all to important on the street but when your just looking around it's good to know the options. honestly the little weight saved with mild steel isn't worth the 1,000 dollar price tag for the setup. however the advantages of room and the like help to contribute and if a used set can be found then it's definately worth it!

i agree with the idea behind the mild steel although i do question it. if chromoly wasn't such a good idea why would it be used in applications like roll bars and other "life saving" accessories?

all indications do lead to mild steel being the wise choice for street cars, but it doesn't hurt to get opinions! thanks iroczz3.
