What, There is more to it then that if you want it to actually add power. It isn't a one size fits all part.

I thought he meant he was just going to buy the turbo and slap one together. But anyway why not a SC instead? A turbo would be cool but not as powerful.

Uhhh.... turbos are more powerful than superchargers. They're more efficient, they make more power with less boost, and they take less horsepower to turn them.

believe that a turbo creates more powerand is more efficient...

lets see... u know how everyone wants to get rid of the ac compressor and the smog pump.... they put electric water pumps and underdrive pullies.... well they do that because those things eat away at horsepower.... there parasitic devices.. ur engine has to run them...right?

good... now lets see how a supercharger works... hmmm pulley at the crank... and pulley at the blower....big belt connecting the two... seems like another parasitic device....WOW it is...

most superchargers only produce 30-40% more powere because it takes about 50-60 percent to drive them in the first place
so when u see a blower advertising 90% power gains there right...but u only see about 35-40 percent cause the other 50-60 percent is used up in driving the blower....

now turbos... works off of exhaust gases...which is virturaly free... they dont need alot to drive them... they create power at a lower loss.... now turbos arent entierly efficient... the do cause a small amount of back pressure in the exhaust system but only at a rate of 5 +\- hp lost to every 100 hp made...

now the thing is blowers are a little more straightfoward and simple... alot of companies have made kits that are already thought out and planned and inlcuded all the nooks and cranies u need to make it work right.... turbos arent... most guys cook em up in their back yard...teh he...

oh to all u thirdgeners who havent heard... gale banks is re re-releasing their turbo kits for the 3rd gens (or so ive heard,) keep ur thumbs up boys and girls... the iroc's will rule the streets once again....

Obviously you dont know how a turbo or supercharger works. Please do some reading and then get back to me.

I sure hope we're getting a TPI turbo kit again, that would be great!

Factory turbo kits were nice also

This should be a nice setup if done right.

they need to make a universal turbo system for 3gen's that would include the turbo, headers, dp, then the rest can be add on's like up graded fuel system parts, after coolers and so on

I know how they work but thanks for the cute comment. And if the turbo kit is rigged it will not add more power than a supercharger of any kind.

I have some friends that own a local header shop and we're considering doing a turbo setup on my car. I just have to get the money together to do other mods such as heads and cam and then we can do the turbo setup. If you guys want, i can let them use my car for a mock up if anyone is interested in getting some stainless turbo headers.

PM me if interested and I'll hook it up.

TTROC: I know banks is selling their sbc manifolds again, not sure on the kit though. I got a picture of a guy that has the banks manifolds in a 3rd gen and it looked great.

askulite <-not sure if its spelled right... and guido, 83crossfire and a couple of other guys have been saying that "gale banks is going to re-realase their turbo kit for the 3rd gens" and that they are currently working the bugs out.... expect more news and some solid details in about 4-6 months.... but u know how the story goes.... and the sbc manifolds... great that their selling it again....but its still manifolds but i still see alot of guys producing a decent amount of powers for manifolds... and in actuality it might be safer (not to mention simpler) for a street 3rd gen to have manifolds... headers are a PITA and unless u get them ceramic coated they kinda start burning things that arent even close...
