ok, here is my 2 cents. I am making alot of boost which in turn makes alot of hp and torque (see sig). The trick for me is to stay on top of the tune - DO NOT let it go lean. I also don't go from light to light making max boost and my engine doesn't burn or leak any oil or anti freeze. It's a p600b - innercooled and has been this way for 3 1/2 yrs. Now it will blow up for having bragged on it . Got to get this thing to hook up, but it still will run 110-112mph depending on conditions - not bad for a 305 tpi.
Good luck with your decision

Sorry it took so long to respond, but I had to chase the sasser worm out. Micrsoft & Norton's said it wasn't here, but the folder was here, it just couldn't run properly on my operating system (ME edition), so no one has a tool to remove it from this system. Anyway I have a 305TPI 9.3:1, I do not beat the hell out of it. Been waiting for it to blow for some time now and she still runs good (compression is good, leakdown is good, not using oil and not losing coolant). I have had this setup about 10k miles. Stock bottom end, stock cam, crane cams 1.6 rockers and springs, 24# injectors, headers w/ flowmaster, and I messed around porting the runners a little for better flow. I still maintain don't run lean and don't run it up sustained at 10 or 12 pounds and they will run ok for a while. I don't know about anyone else, but I can run 120mph on highway without boost, it's getting there when I use the boost if you get my meaning, I just don't do it at every light.

call me crazy but i think a good set of headers and a 3" exhaust will really help you, especially if your going to blow this thing. i have seen claim of 40 hp over at TGO with headers and exhaust and thats at the wheels. so if it where me i would get a full exhaust before i go with the supercharger b/c your going to be choking the **** out of that thing if you dont. and you might also want to think about a set of SLP runners or other runners and Port and Polish the rest of the intake unless your going to change it, just to get things flowing. good luck and keep us updated.

Just keep one thing in mind. When you help your engine breathe ie headers and porting the intake, the less boost will be made. For example if you make 10 pounds today and then open it up with an exhaust you may only make 8 pounds tomorrow. Superchargers work well on stock set-ups in this regard. To offset this you have to pulley the charger up - make the pulley on the charger a little smaller (ie 2.75" to 2.55") to get the boost back to where it was.

well i alredy have shorty's with full exhaust(to the cut-out, haha) so we exhale pretty damn good. and i am with jay on this one. thinking of leaving the stock intake and runners and just beefing the hell out of the valve train. a good sc cam, rr's, new valves slightly larger than stock, and opening the heads a little. tell me what you think of that set up... i hear these engines make respectable torque but just need the horses to back them up. so i figure if i narrow the passage of air into the heads, then let the combustion chamber suck down what's been feed to it, it should make good horse power at less strain to the sc. you know, the whole volumetric efficiency crap. not to menchin, the new valve train sould let me rap it up a little higher....
just a thought.....
any ideas appreciated though...
