If that car is a factory automatic I'd go to a radiator with no built-in trans cooler and run a seperate trans cooler instead. More engine cooling power that way. I also like Edelbrock's aluminum water pump.

BeCool makes good radiators. Get the one for a 305/T5 car (no trans cooler). I also had one made by Griffin once and never had any trouble with it. As far as electric fans...I like dual puller setups cuz you can wire it so one's on all the time and the other kicks on when the engine heats up (run it off a fan temp switch). Find a stock dual fan rig out of an IROC and you should be just fine.

electric pumps are nice because you can leave them on and still cycle the cooland through with the car off. but i have some friends that had to get their pumps rebuilt many times and then upgraded before they worked right. So i just kept my factory pump. still running the stock radiator too.

383 with 150 and she stays cool except during heavy rush hour. I just wired the fans to be on all the time. I would buy a bigger better radiator before getting the pump but that's just my opinion.

On a street car I wouldn't run an electric water pump. For one thing you would need to engineer a totally new belt system for the engine accessories. You can get just as much cooling power with a good high flow pump and not even half the PITA factor. Plus electric pumps cost more. Racers just like to use them to save the roughly 4hp that a belt-driven pump will use.

There is only one stop to make for great waterpumps, and that is www.stewartcomponents.com without a doubt. You'll probably want their Stage2 pump or better for the 383. I run a Stage1 pump on both my thirdgens and I have to say it is the best $69 I've spent a car...

I wouldn't go electric. It is cool and all that. However, should you have an electrical problem, you might not know it till it was too late. Electrical pumps are great for drag racing. Buddy of mine took the serpentine belt off when racing. A few more HP but he had to line up the car, push it to the start line, launch it and quickly shut it off before it overheated.

Why do you want to run electric? There is no real benifit for street cars AFAIK.

Well if you're dead set on an electric water pump, you'll pretty much just have to convert your serpentine over to an old-style V-belt system and just find the right length belts to fit the alt. & P/S pump. I'm tellin ya it's really not worth it though. More money spent, more pain in the a**, less reliability, and maybe 5 extra horse but prolly more like 3.
