Well motors out and disassembly has begun..

Well Yesterday i finally got the engine out...god im never gunna remember where all those wires go ...even with the millions of pictures i took. Anyway today i unmounted the tranny and go the engine on the engine stand. Then i began tearing into the motor itself. Well i knew the guy had done his own port job to the heads, so i was nervous about the way they'd look..well heres some pictures...idk, i dont think it looks to good, looks like it gets alittle thin in spots..and some carbon was between the ports..and i dont think thats good right?...like carbon was between that...slither of metal between the ports. Well anyway here are the pictures...you think there saveable?

Re: Well motors out and disassembly has begun..

That's a pretty crummy looking port job. The ports aren't even and the sides aren't straight, there's no way they can match the gasket openings, and that one pair in the second shot looks like he rounded off the divider between the ports. That can cause uneven fuel distribution to those two cylinders if the intake gasket doesn't seal.

They're probably useable, but if I were building a motor that was anything more than mild I'd find another set and do a better (cleaner) port job on them.
