What is the best rear-end out there >?
Hey Everyone,
I have a 91 Rs with a 350 in it , and a brand new rebuilt tranny, with a cut cat , and a flowmaster. The car right now is terribly slow , it sounds great , but like i said it is imbarrisingly slow. After I get out of a great debt to my parents. My next mod i want an awsome rear end that will give me the best gains in HP, I also want the best gears and such also , Please give me everything i need to know about rebuilding a awsome rear-end.
Posi-traction i know would be great too!
Thanks fellas
Jerry

ummm, a new rear end will not result in any horsepower made. it puts the horsepower your engine makes to the pavement. you can buy rebuild kits that give you all new seals, bearings, etc. for your current rear and then you can get the gears and lsd (limited slip differential) you desire. we're looking for a ford 9" for our 85' right now so have fun.

If you want to get as much HP through the diff then stick with the 10 bolt. Each step up to a stronger diff will result in a greater drivetrain loss.
The next step up would be to a 12 bolt. After that a 9". The ultimate diff would be a Dana 60 but it also decreases the HP through it the most.
Building an "ultimate" rear end should cost between $2000 and $3000.
