What brand of Tires do you guys drive ?
I'll be getting some new Tires soon and was wondering what brand to get . I need 245/50/Z16's . I don't drive in the rain & it never snow's in New Orleans . I want a Z rated tire that grips to the ground , rides with low noise and handles bad azz . Thankx .....AJ

What I did
I got some Goodyear GSc's at SLP.com. They were takoffs from new z28's turned into ss's, so they are new **** and all. They were only 99.00 a piece and they are great all around tires. Also I gotta say they are holding up great.

255/40/17 Kuhmo V700 VictorRacers up front
315/35/17 Nitto Drag Radials out back
(Both on 17X9.5 and 17X8.5" ROH ZS rims)
or
165/75/15 skinnies out front
28.0X11.5X15 M/T ET Streets out back
(on 15X8 and 15X3.5" Weld Draglites)
Check the website for pics.
As for a 245/50/16 and you're looking for bad-azz handling, Kuhmo only makes a 245/45/16 and a 265/45/16. A 245/45/16 would be 24.3" tall which is a lot shorter than a normal 245/50/16. Here are the advantages of that tire however.. The shorter tire lowers the car which would lower center of gravity. The shorter tire weighs less which is never as bad thing. The shorter tire would allow you to lower the car lower than with a 245/50/16 and you would want to lower it ANYWAYS because by not lowering it and just adding 245/45/16's, you'd have more tire/fender gap which looks crappy. Since it has a 45 series sidewall instead of a 50, it will be stiffer and handle better. I myself would do it. It's almost as good as stepping up to 17" rims as far as handling would be and you'll be amazed at how sticky these tires really are compared to something like a BFG COmp T/A or a Goodyear GS-C(Both popular "high perf" tires which honestly suck in comparison the the Victorracers)
Downfall? A shorter tire would make your speedometer read incorrectly. It'll read faster than you'd really going. Also it changes your gearing somewhat which would make the car accelerate quicker and you'd turn more rpms on the highway, which would make your top speed lower basically, hopefully you're not looking to drive at top speed all day
I almost reccomended Yokohama AO32R's also but they are LOUD as hell and you don't want that it looks like. The VictorRacers were a blessing after removing the AO32R's off my car

I had some Pirelli's on my old 92. When they were completley bald (smooth as a baby's ***...no thread what-so-ever) they would STILL grip. In fact, they gripped better BALD than the brand new tires we got on it before I sold it, some Goodyear Eagle's or something like that. I say go Pirelli
