Question what is the difference between a 350 TPI and a LT1?

What is the difference between an 89 formula TPI 350 and a LT1? What would it take for the 89 formula to bet an LS1? My husband needs to know. He is determined to find a way to beat my car.

lmao, these topics are a dime a dozen... one of the main difference between a L98 and a LT1 is that the LT1 has a a better intake manifold.

tell your hubby if he wants to beat a stock LS1, to get himself a 150 shot, higher gears, headers + exhaust and good tires... that way when he beats the LS1, it's not by just a car... it'll be something the guy in the LS1 is going to remember

The L98s can be fast. Full exhaust ofcourse (ive got everything you need exhaust wise for $700) You could port the stock heads, but better off with AFRs or Pro Toplines, a good cam too. Don't waste your money on a super/mini/steal ram, just buy an LT1 intake and send it to www.lt1intake.com A stall and some 3.73 and itll wax an LS1

Differences would be better:
Intake
Heads
Compression
Ignition
y-pipe

Your LS1, with those mods and drag radials should run low-mid 12s. It'll take a lot of mods for a TPI to do that.

Wouldnt take much at all for him to beat an LS1 stop light to stoplight or in the 1/8th. I think the L98 stock has as much torque as the Ls1. But Hp is a differnt story. Plus the TPI runs out of steam at about 4800 RPM. SO you would wax him in the 1/4.

Switch intakes to a modified Lt1 or Stealth Ram/Super Ram etc. Full exhaust, some programing, and suspension mods, and he should run with a 4th gen anywhere he wants to. And as previosly mentioned if he wants to embarass the LS1 get the 150 shot

Plus 3rd gens tend to handle better, he could go around a corner and lose an Ls1

To beat an LS1, just need a new motor. that is the easy way.
Built 350 with a lot of spray would work too.

if you switched the tpi on a 350 L98 with a LT1 intake, what would the outcome be? would it perform just as good as a LT1? more hp, less tq? ive been hearing about switching intakes but i dont know what the benifits are

whats his budget-
i would say to pul his motor and make it a stroker w/ some AFR heads. and a Z409 cam or somthing to match them then get a HSr on top.
3.55's in his car and a 2800 stall converter will pull in every gear and still handle better.
