Talking what rear end do i have

hey guy's i have a 86 camaro right now it only has a 2.8 in it.
i was wondering what rear end was under it? and what would
need to make it a posi? any info would be heplful.

look in your center consol you should find your RPO codes there if not check the back box. then run them through a code decoder www.thirdgen.org has a good one

Most likely you have a 10 bolt with 3.42 gears in it.

Zepher sounds right to me. And it's a 26-spline rear so you need either a 26-spline posi unit or a 28-spline (like the SLP take-off units) and a set of 28-spline axles (which are stronger anyway).

thanks people you have been a help. i thought it was a 10 bolt but a service guy told me back then they also used what he called
a 9 bolt. so i figured i'd ask in here because alot of you know more than most service guys. thanks again

They do make a nine bolt.....Australian made ...Borg-Warner (something like that). That is what I have on my brid and from what I hear, PARTS ARE A PAIN IN THE REAR TO GET!!!!
