Ok, so I wrestled the lower rad hose off and now I can't route the new one on. Is there a certain procedure here? Am I completely missing something? I can't even get the one end on the water pump first, which seems to look like it would go right on if I got it on the pump first. It's also hitting the smog pump, tranny lines and a few brackets. I am seriously going crazy, can someone please help?
ps. It is DEFINITELY the right hose for the car, EXACT dimensions and bends, I just can't route it onto the car.

I just did it on my 89 Formula 350 a couple weeks ago, and while it succked, I don't remember it being so horrible (although I did garner a cut finger). I do remember briefly considering cutting a little off when it didn't want to pop on easy, but it was exactly the same as the old one, so I left it as is.
Anyway, if memory serves, I routed the radiator end in first, but not where it goes on the neck. Put it kind of high and to the inside. Then I put on the pump end. Then forced the tip of the radiator end back enough to get it over the tip of the neck.

Thanks guys, I got the hose in, but the problem was actually the water pump. I thought the leak was coming from the bottom of the hose, but it turns out, the water pump is shot and leaking pretty bad from the front seal. This should be fun.
