Post What were the engines options for an `86 Z28

What engine came stock on a `86 Z28 with the auto tranny? I tried a search but came up empty.

here you can check the VIN number hare and get the engine thats in your car.

However this only works if the engine was never swaped.

I think there were 2 engine options on the 86 Z with auto tranny.

1. 305 4 barrel-165 horses
2. 305 T.P.I.-190 horses

The 305 H.O. with 4 barrel I think was only available with the 5sp.

Hmm no 350 in `86 ... it is definatly a TPI engine. I will have to check out the vin later. I don't know if is the original engine or not. I will have to investigate.

I think the only 350's rolling around those days were GM test cars. My 86 Z is stock 305 4bbl. Good luck man!

Yup, GM produced 50 L98 IROCs in 86, but there is absolutely NO evidence that any of them escaped the crusher. All 50 of them were stripped down models with no a/c, no t-tops and little/no interior options.
