will a cam out of an lt1 fit my motor?

itd fit but you have to do something with the dowel pin, check this out http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...1+cam+in+my+87

using the tech data section of thirdgen.org, it lists 87 L98 350 TPI cam's specs to be: 202/207 .404/.415 114.5
the LT1 cams are awefully close to that, so i wouldnt think that the swap would really be worth it. i think the LT1 specs have a touch more lift, and 1 or 2 degrees more duration? although it would fit, i dont think its worth the trouble.
(edit) i didnt see you had an 89, the cam specs listed as: 207/213 .415/.430 117
so they differ a little, but different years of LT1s give you different cam specs too, but they are all in a general area, which is right where your TPI cam is if the specs are right..

the last 3 are aftermarket cams, and the rest of the stock cames have less duration than your stock cam... but they have more lift. but if your going for more lift, it would probably be better to get 1.6 roller rockers and use your stock cam, instead of going through the whole trouble of a cam swap, just to get more lift.
if you have 1.6 rockers on your stock cam that has .415 and .430 lift, it would make the lift .442/.458, which is really close to the 95 F body's lift with 1.5 rockers, and if you do a cam swap later to take advantage of ported heads and intake, you will be able to take advantage of 1.6 roller rockers that you bought already, plus the fact you can add a cam with more duration.
eh, thats my opinion, just a thought

don't know. got it new from www.vincihighperformance.com when they do motors for people, they have their own special grind to put in. but doesn't matter really, because all lt1 motors produced 300 hp some lt1 cams are out of impala ss cars that produced 260 hp.
but like i stated earlier, the zz4 cam produced approximately 20 more hp than the lt1 anyway.

Agreed.
Get an aftermarket one if you're gonna go through all the trouble of doing a swap.
