Wondar bar/steering box brace

How much of a difference will this make. Will it help eliminate squeaks and rattles.

That was NOT the design purpose of that part, it was install for cars using the 16 x 8 front tires and the load they put on the steering box ( the name steering box support ) IROC's were the first and only cars to have them. (also some firebirds may have got it ????).

To eliminate squeaks & rattles you will need SFC's and STB.

I'd recommend getting one from TDS.

Why recommend SFC's and a STB and not the Wonderbar? The SFC's and STB strengthen the weak chassis right? The "Wonderbar" helps strengthen the chassis at the steering box area by tying both sides of the front subframe together.

Will it make the squeaks and rattles go away? Probably not. Will you notice a difference? Probably not, but it will make a difference. Is it worth $5-$10 at a local junkyard - without a doubt yes. I wouldn't pay $50+ for a fancy aftermarket piece. Waste of money IMO.

My mistake, All I said was the SFC's & STB will help eliminate squeaks and rattles and what the purpose of the steering box was. His car may already have one and I did not recommend against getting one.

It'll tighten up the front end quite a bit, and may help with squeaking in the dash but if so it won't be much. The biggest benefit is that it will keep the steering box from tearing itself off the frame. Zepher made a great recommendation with the TDS piece....it's the best design I've seen (much better that stock) and that's why I got one.

I would have gotten a TDS piece if they were available at the time I got my first one.
I bought my GM one back in 2000. Earlier this year while we were building my friends 82 T/A, he ordered a BMR unit, which does not work on an 82-83 F-body, so I traded him my GM one for the BMR. GM one takes about 10 minutes total to install.
BMR one took me 5 hours, I found out I had to elongate one of the four mouting holes so they would line up correctly.
Spohn's wonderbar also needs to have one hole elongated.
The GM one and the TDS one do not have to have anything done to them, they just bolt on.

Here are two pics of my car,
The GM unit

The BMR Unit,

TDS unit

10 minute install. Works on all 82-92 except TTA. It also utilizes 3 bolts per side instead of 2, which takes some stress off the mount bracket and applies it directly to the frame instead.
