World Class T-5

World Class T-5
Ok I'm sure that this is probably a really dumb question but I'm looking at doing a tranny swap on my 90 IROC convertible from an A4 to a T-5. I'm not gonna do a T-56 swap because of all the complications with the speedo and all that. What I was wondering is about the World Class Super Duty T-5 tranny that Jegs has but its listed under Ford Racing parts. I was just wondering if this would still bolt up to the bellhousing for a T-5 on an F-body?
Also I'm having a little bit of trouble trying to find specs on this tranny. Like the overall dimensions and such. Any info would help. Thanks.
Here's the URL for the listing of the T-5 on Jegs.com:

Thanks guys for all your help.

A Ford T5 won't work with our cars. The tailshaft is completely different, and I believe the shifter location and input shaft are both different as well.
Spohn.net sells a T56 that bolts up to the T5 equipment and will work with your mechanical speedo. It even uses a T5 shifter. You could always do what I'm doing and do the T5 swap and plan on getting that new T56 down the road.

I don't have a mechanical speedo, its electronic, I think the 87 was the first year for the Firebird and 89 or 90 was the first year for the Camaro to have the electric speedo. The T-56 puts out a much higher pulse rate than the T-5 and thats not good. A company makes a converter that changes the pulse for the speedo but it is not recommended cuz I heard that it has some problems with the ECM. And I would like to put a T-5 in my car to make it apeal like it came like that stock. Do you know where I can get some T-5's new or used. I've already checked out thirdgenresource.com, thats gonna be my first choice for getting a used one and parts, but if I can get a new one that would be great too.

whoops. I didn't notice that you had a 90. Well in either case, the aftermarket T56 will accept a T5 drive gear and VSS/speedo cable turnie thingie.
I *think* the ECM in the SD cars is also capable of being programmed to recognize up to a 4khz pulse (I think stock uses 2khz). Of course, that doesn't help the speedo know what's going on.
The cheapest place to get T5s is probably through the classifieds of boards like this or thirdgen.org. I've got a full T5 swap for sale, but the trans is a non world class. If you wanted you could always buy it and resell the trans, or use it until it breaks. Behind a 305 even a non world class will last quite a while.

whats the diff between world class and non? isnt it just stronger synchros and other internal parts. so you could even find a non WC and rebuild it with the stronger parts. but no doubt youre best bet would be classifieds.

You can't make a non-WC into a WC is what I have been told, the biggest difference is the WC has stronger tapered roller bearings and the non-WC has straight bearings. I'm using a WC behind my ZZ430 clone and it's holding up fine so far.

I broke 7 T5s in the last 3 years. Three were World Class. If you CAN drive, a T5 won't last long behind a 305. If your motor is putting out any kind of power, don't waste time or money on a T5. Go with a T56. I have yet to hurt my T56 in my '94, and my '88 is now sporting a th350 until I get the funds for a th700 with a nice converter.

Forte's has a couple of Tremec 5 speeds for under 2,000 dollars that will fit your car. Just looked at their web site. Wouldn't be a T5, but would be a rock solid 5 speed that should bolt in relatively easily.

The fact is, some people break every T5 they get near, and others don't ever break them. What's the difference? Not the transmissions.
