Engine Building/Rebuilding/Suspension

Christmas is coming up and i was wondering if you Engine Guru's could suggest any good engine building books for me, i'm not a complete car newbie, i know what everything does and how a engine works and the basics behind it... i can do a basic tune-up and things around that but i wanna know how to tear down and build up an engine, and understand compression better and more of the technical aspect of it. I hope i posted in the right forum, If not sorry bout that. Hope this doesn't sound too lame, i dont wanna be fead by the silverspoon or anything just wanna be pointed in the right dirrection.

Excellent intro to the topic.

Get all three small block chevy books by David Vizard - great insight into the details of various parts and the why's and hows. The books are - heads, valvetrain, and rotating assembly specific. For handling, check on the autox/road race forum, but the Herb Adams book is a simple primer, and the bible is written by Milliken.
