18x9.5 ...... what am i losing?
I am thinking BC Timeless 5's 18x9.5.... what am i losing? Like track times, show quality? My car isn't lowered and isn't gonna be for awhile so will 18's look ok? will i become slower with a bigger tire in width and height?

Well I never ran my car at the tracks before I installed the wheels and as you can see in my sig my car is very much stock. For my car being what it is, I think my time is great. If I could have done better with my stock wheels/tires, i'd say it would be nothing more then thousandths of a second. As far as looks; I havent lowered my car yet and have low pro's. The gap in the rear isn't too bad, and my gear ratio has suffered maybe just a tad @ 3:20 instead of 3:23's. Pics are in the link in the sig. Btw, timeless 5's are nice, but I think the 2's would be awesome. Maybe even the rallye's.

There is no question that these wheels will slow you down. There is more mass to rotate and traction becomes more of an issue. You can forget about sub 2.0 60' with 18" wheels. That is the tradeoff, but I bought mine for the appearance factor, not the ET factor. I use a separate set of wheels for the track.

the size only comes into play when chosing your tires. and with that, you can get 18's and still have 275-35-18 and run factory programming.
the loss of speed only comes into play if the wheels you are adding wiegh more than what you take off. it takes more power to spin a heavy tire than it does a smaller tire, so its common sence here. some metals are light and strong, some are heavy. there are some magnesium alloy wheels out there weighing only like 5 pounds. the factory zo6 wheels are extremely light weight for 18" wheels. but the aftermarket wheels weigh more than the factory ones.
weight is what matters, not size(unless you get like a 18x5 or something dumb like that)
its not the size of the boat, its the motion of the ocean
