93-97 headlight wells... lacquer or enamel?

The headlight wells on my '96 are faded, and I'd like to repaint them. Is the original satin black paint lacquer or enamel?

i believe it's satin black but why would you want to repaint them that. Instead paint them black and clear them that way they're shiny! Looks 10x better IMO. That's what i did.

That may look good, but I still don't whether to use lacquer or enamel paint. The wrong type of paint could peel, crack, get gummed up etc.

Ahhhh... I could be wrong on this but I don't think it's either. All manufacturers use modern two part epoxies or polyurethanes today. Go to any auto paint supplier. They will have the correct semi-gloss and the rubberizer/flex agent to keep it from cracking.
