Can you strip the red from inside of the tail light housings?
I was just wondering if the plastic is made red or if it's just a tinting on the inside. I want to make my rear tail lights clear too and put red bulbs in. I have clear corners on the front (my car is white) and i think clear tail lights would looks pretty cool. Anyone done this or know if it can be done?

yes, the red plastic piece comes out. once youve got your tail lights off the car, take a box cutter and start cutting the seal around the back. once you get the outside case off, pull the red lens out. then just seal them back up and your good to go. i put the red LED's in mine. that way when they are not lit up they are clear. looks pretty cool. looks better than red bulbs anyways, IMO.

Do you have any pics? That sounds awsome. Did you just glue yours back together? Did you get the lights from Ebay? I think i'll do this next weekend lol.

PLEASE post on the correct forum. This is becoming a problem. This is "LT1 Engine Tech". Moving to "Appearance". A "search" would have found you related posts on that forum.

There are pictures of the ones I ran for 3 years on my Cardomain page (it's listed on my profile here)...
Not that hard to do, but I never found a set of bulbs that I liked that I felt safe driving around with; I was ALWAYS worried about getting rear-ended.
But hey, I did it for a while, thought they were cool, and still think they look good on some cars. But... I've moved on to LSX tails now...

threw a page together real quick. dont mind the dirty car!
in the daytime, you can see the lights fairly decent. at night time, they are way cool. in the night time pics, notice that the lower reflectors are reflecting the flash of the camera (so that wouldnt normally be there ).
heres the page: http://www.geocities.com/banzai_68/TAwithLED.html?
EDIT: i believe there is a writeup also on how to convert that third bulb in the taillight to a brake light. ill see if i can dig it up later. hope this helps.

Hey thats cool, they even have a formula in the pics! So what's special about them? What does it mean when it says "You will need an electronic flasher available from any automotive store". We cant just use the stock setup we have?
These were the ones i was thinking of getting

those will work and are a lot cheaper. and you will have to go to advance auto or whatever and get your electronic flasher. it plugs in where your old mechanical one goes under the dash. the stock one is set up to keep your blinker on steady if a bulb goes out. if you use the stock flasher, it wont allow your blinkers to flash. get an electronic one and they will work fine. i think they are like $5.
