Carbon Fiber SS Hood

Thinking about getting a carbon fiber SS hood and painting part of it leaving some carbon fiber showing. Could I get some pictures of what others have done with theirs and what brand you bought? Thanks in advance.

Thanks, but I was looking for some that have been painted to match there car with the scoop left unpainted. I work with a guy that has a Z06 and he has a carbon fiber hood that he painted and I like how it looks on his car but it is a different looking hood.

I understand completely and am in the process of doing exactly that on my car. But I'm NOT giving you my ideas ahead of time. I'd like to be unique, at least for a while!

DG Motorsports specializes in Carbon Fiber. Says they are discontinued, but you might email them. It's not an SS hood. It's the same type of hood that was used on the '93 ZL1 concept Jon Moss played with before the car was converted to look '98-'02.

anyone ever see an entire car body made out of Carbon Fiber?? Now that would be sweet. I'm surprised lambo or Ferrari doesnt make one.

There is a Saudi Prince that has an Audi with a body made out of pure silver, not silver plated, PURE SILVER!!

There are several exotics with carbon fiber bodies. The McLaren F1 for one.
The McLaren F1 was the first production road car to use a complete carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) monocoque chassis structure.

i have thought about doing something similar. i have a pewter 01 SS, and was thinking about getting a CF SS hood, then possibly doing something like putting the manta on it in pewter, leaving the rest CF. still won't be for a while, but just something i had thought of.

Interesting, as they're doing one for me as we speak. They did say that they haven't done one in three years.

I think DG probably makes good products. It's hard these days to find anybody who has any of their ground effects, hoods, or spoilers though. I'd be interested in finding out what you think of the final product!

Received an E-mail from Dave Green, he said the molds were a little rough as they hadn't been used in three years and that they don't clear coat the CF stuff any more. I responded that it didn't mattler as any small problems could be fixed by the body shop and that I'm going to have most of the hood painted anyway. He wrote back and said, "it would be a good hood".
So, don't know how long it will take, but once I get it I'll let you know what I think.

that hood is beautiful, i wouldn't paint it at all. Painting the front of the scoop red to match would be interesting but I would put it on the car and leave it naked for a few months before you really think about painting it at all.
