Arrow Check out my Homemade Fuel Rail Covers...Opinions?

I made these fuel rail covers....check them out and let me know what you think?

http://community.webshots.com/album/45333320FWBvrm

They are made out of 1/16" aluminum that I cut on my bandsaw and formed with a 2x4 and a rubber mallet to give them some shape. A coat of gloss black ceramic engine paint and a pair of camaro stickers, courtesy of ZGRAPHICS (Toledo)....I think they turned out pretty good.

Also, any suggestions on more engine bay improvements?...I am thinking about doing a similiar thing to the radiator shroud, also in gloss black with a large red Z28 on it.

Thanks Guys....Here are the basic steps that I took to make these:

1. Made template out of cardboard basically by trial and error, just kept trimming and cutting and trying it out until I found the shape I liked.

2. Transferred the outline onto a sheet of 1/16" aluminum. Cut the shape out using my 12" Bandsaw with a metal blade. If you clamped it down real well, you could cut it out with a jigsaw with a metal blade. Aluminum cuts pretty easy.

3. Checked the fit and made some adjustments a couple of times.

4. Clamped the flat cutout on the edge of my workbench and beat it with a rubber mallet to crease it and give it the shape I was looking for (also required to clear a couple of connectors/fuel lines)

5. After I got the shape I liked and they fit good, I had to mark and drill the locations for the bolts that hold the fuel rail on. This was somewhat difficult to get exactly right, so I ended up elongating the back holes a little to get the bolts to go in. The (4) bolts that hold the fuel rails in place are plently long to also hold the covers.

6. After I checked the mounting, I removed the covers and did some light sanding, primed and painted the covers. I used Duplicolor Ceramic Engine Paint. I thought about polishing the covers to match the rest of the intake, but figured the black would look better.

7. Any areas where the edge of the aluminum was coming in contact with or had the chance to touch something else, wires, sensors, etc., I used some black door trim to protect them.

Looks great. Just curious, where did you get your battery holder? I need a new one cause my stock one broke. Thanks a lot.

I can't believe I'm the first one asking but how much would you take to make a second pair? I would like the SAME design and colors you have. And I wouldn't need these for a few weeks so you won't be rushed making them if ya decide to.

you might have to drill some venting holes in them so your engine doesn't overheat. , yeah i know it won't make diffence, but yeah that is something you could sell.

Exclamation

I guess I started something when I asked how much! Welp I think these look great and honestly I don't have the skills or patience for a job like this. Hit me up with an email or post here if you do plan on making a few and selling them.

Thanks guys for all the great responses....I would really like to make more of these for you guys, but I am not sure I have the time to do them. I will have to think about it...Give me an idea of what you would want to pay, maybe that will help me make my decision.

Would anyone be interested in buying the plans (templates, drawings)?
