Hey, Check this site out. I have the same car and have tried alot of cleaners to get the tan top clean. The best I've found is "amazing roll-off", it works great on the rims too. The "raggtopp protectant "makes water bead right off, works great. You will need two cans of raggtopp to do the job.
The site has info on tops too. Good luck

I see that I have the same as you guys... I checked out the site that was linked above and looked at the chart to see if your top is cloth or vinyl and now I'm not sure...

I always thought my top was cloth, but it says there that it could be vinyl for the 95's, even though every Camaro vert I have ever seen looks like cloth... Any of you know how to make sure? I would think vinyl looks smooth, not like fabric, but this seems to tell a different story?

Any help appreciated!

Sam,
I've never seen a 4th gen with a tan vinyl top, I think the only one made was white? If you have pics of your top I can tell you if it's like mine.

I don't have any pics handy, but it looks like cloth on the outside, like fabric. You can see that it's woven...

Must be cloth, right?

To rid the top of mildew spots, use a soft brush and mix up a solution of laundry detergent and one half cup of bleach. The bleach will kill the mildew and has no effect on the color of the top or the fabric. The only issue is that over time the bleach will weaken the stiching around the windows; but that takes a long time. Trust me it works. Afterwards, seal it with either Hartz Convertible Top Protectant or, what I prefer, Silicone Water Repellent from the camping section in walmart.

I took the car to a do it yourself carwash place that has a light pressure washer. It worked great! As I slowly sprayed the top from left to right with pressured water and detergent, you could see the black mildew disappear. For two bucks the tan top came out looking new.

Now I need to seal it so I think I'll take your advice and use the Wal-Mart silicon.

Thanks,
