DIY Wheel Refinishing?

DIY Wheel Refinishing?
I bought myself some Aluminum Wheels.
They have no curb rash, but the clear coat is peeling pretty badly.
How would I go about refinishing these wheels?
Any suggestions for commercial chemicals to strip the clear?
What's the best way to re-clearcoat them?
TIA.

Well unless you wanna take the paint completely off don't use a chemical.
I would have to say bust out the sand paper and sand it untill the paint is all level then wash it with some dish soap to get any oils off let dry careful not to touch them after you have cleaned them.
Then go to autozone(I know they have this paint for sure)
and get some either duplicolor wheel paint (clear) or some duplicolor engine clear coat.

on a clearcoated polished wheel, here is what i did when the clearcoat went to heII
soaked a cotton rag in laquer thinner and kept wiping it across the clearcoat until it softened the clearcoat enough to just be wiped off with another rag.
i then took "Mothers" mag and aluminum polish and polished the now bare aluminum to a high luster shine.
"note" i did this to the faces of 92 Z28 flat face five spoke 16 inch wheels, after i did it everybody i know asked me if i put a chrome overlay on the faces of the wheels, that is how much better it looked.
i never did put any clearcoat back on them cause it seems like the clearcoat on many wheels just goes to crap all the time..
hope this helps ya!
