How do I take out that stock grill insert?
When you take out the stock grill insert on LS1s, you get this...

Anyone done it, and how do you get it out?

As far as I know, you just tug on it until it finally gives. It should have some tape holding it in place so you have to work against that. Hope this helps you out. By the way, SWEET CAR!!!

i don't know why gm even wasted their money on that plastic thing, the car looks better without it. and i can't belive they actually bolted the thing on instead of using plain clips. yeah work it out and i think you have to break or cut it to get it off. i wish i still had a camaro.

There's no tape. Just 3 bolt things along the top and 3 along the bottom and a clip either side. I couldn't just pull mine off. I broke the clips on either side and the worked my way in and cut the bolts off. They are only plastic. No matter how much I pulled they wouldn't come off. The front end would just sit there and bend. I then got a Wings west grill insert. This gave me the same sort of look, but without filling the holes.

What's up Jesse? How is everything in Texas? Brian, I pulled mine..
Some people get lucky, others have to work at it.. I ordered the WW piece, too, so hopefully I'll get that soon.. It's cheaper than getting those holes filled, and the whole front clip painted.

I just did this about a half hour ago since all i wanted to do was take off the grill and fill in the letters with some silver paint, than BAM it was there, I never knew the lettering was underneath and its staying that way. There 2 was to pull it off, tug real hard or... pop the hood and you will see 3 clips pointing at you underneath the windshield washer fluid. you just need to push out the center part of the bolt and push the rest out. Now with those out you have acess from underneath to unscrew the bolts that hold the top of the grill in place. Also you can unclip the bottom 3. Just once the 3 clips you first get out pull down the end of the nose where it meets a black plastic panel and theres your direct acess to the bolts ect. Your gonna need to do this anyways if you just pull it off since the bolts and clips will just be sitting and rattling in the nose. Happy trails.
