Aftermarket, clear, blue, purple, tail lights are tacky and distasteful. Any experienced car designer and builder will tell you the same exact thing... plus it doesn't conform to DOT standards, unless it is factory, even if the cops don't give a damn.
Look at all of the famous car builders and designers, none of them use those fugly clear/altezza tail lights on any of their cars, it was a trend started by ricers, and it therefore will remain a ricer trend.
But... to each his own.

White Z I don't think just anything done to a car is rice. I like some things, racing stipes, wheels are a good enhancement of course there are ugly wheels too. I think lowering can be done well and I'd even venture to say a modest ground effects kit looks good when done right, though I personally wouldn't get one. And you can keep trying to impress me with your car show victories, I have friends with civics that have 20 inch chrome rims, triple decker wings and all the other ridiculous crap and they win carshows too so you can go hang out with cars like them and keep on thinking you look good. Yeah we all know to each his own, I would think that's an obvious point, I'm just stating my point of view who's elses would I state? Do you have other mods to your car or does it run 12's because of all the plastic and shiny stuff glued to it? What are your track times? Please tell me you have track times and you aren't like the rest of the ricers, all bark no bite. There is no 1 definition for what is rice, you just know it in your gut when you see it. My aftermarket 5 spoke SLP rims aren't rice, altezza's are rice, sorry, just the way things are. Yeah and to everyone that I upset, sorry if I state my opinion without a lame disclaimer like IMHO. I'm humble, but I don't mind telling people what I do or don't like, so lets try to take some criticism like men here.
P.S.-Altezza's came out on a car not produced in America made by Toyota. The car is called the Altezza, hence the name, and its the same as our Lexus IS300.

Kevin... thats being resourcefull and a good job at that!
Sure... style is always "ever changing" but that really isn't style is it? Its a trend, a fad... style is something that no matter what age it is, it looks good... classic muscle cars for example, have style, not all, but mostly the pony cars, they are almost 40 years old yet they have style. Call it in the eye of the beholder, but there is always a "look" that captures just about everyone's eye.
Oh yes, the "Altezza" style is factory produced... however it was the aftermarket styling that initiated this. So yes, actually it was the ricers that set the trend... if there is an audience for it why not do it? I know ppl don't buy cars based on their taillights, but it does give that appeal.

I do have slips from the track. I normally go about twice a month. The point is, I get stuff for my car trying it to see if it looks good or not. I've been given more compliments by import owners then most domestic car enthusiasts. I personally take that as a HUGE compliment due to the fact most import owners hate domestic v8's muscle cars. I'm only saying that if it is a trend, why not join in?
Take car shows. What is the point going to a car show if everything was stock? In that case, go out every Saturday or Sunday and check out your local dealership lots.
Now take the track. Look at most cars who are running low times. They really don't have much stock left on there. They might have the block of the engine and the body of the car. Besides that, no additional seats, no spare tires, etc. That is also considered a mod IMHO.
Either way you look at it, most "stock" cars don't get that much attention because they are normal everyday cars.
I could take my car to the track and get more attention from it then a Z of my year bone stock. But once we get on the line, who knows who will win. Looks doesn't make a car go fast or slow so why not make your car look good while you finish 1st over the line.
Just check out everyone on this board. I bet 99% have atleast one appearance mod done. If our cars are not going to be made anymore, lets show everyone in america we still have taste and that camaro's was a BIG mistake to stop on the production line.

what youre saying doesnt make sense man. nobodys really flaming you cause youre not stock. no one here is. just everyones got their own opinion on what they think looks good and what doesnt. you might find you look good while crossing the finish line with the altezzas, but some dont. im sure noone here wants theyre car to be ugly, moreso to them than to whatever anyone else thinks. its not a question of stock versus modded (appearance or otherwise) its more a question of "rice" or not. you basically brought it upon yourself by the title on this post. i for one would not have responded (i know you dont give a s**t anyway ) and probably neither would have many others had it not been for that. let me give you a little example ,k? my cars got all sorts of s**t. gears, headers, exhaust, basically all the boltons and all the suspension stuff. appearance wise ive only got roh mags, headlight covers, and "camaro" inserts in the back (+ a drop from the springs.) now in my engine bay ive got polished valve covers, red intake manifold (not lt4), throttle body plate, polished radiator cover, and quite a few other dressups. now i like having my engine bay dressed up all shiny and nice even if no one else could see it, i dont give a f**k cause it gives me a hard on everytime i pop the hood. would i do anything else to the exterior? ss hood (if i had the funds) ss spoiler, thats about it. but that is my perogative. if people like it , good. if they dont, well good as well. a lot of people i know (all ricers) always say, "why dont you put gfx? or those little blue lights? or this, or that?" i have my own plans for my car. period. whats coming next? cam, rr's, springs, tuning. take for example the big cahuna of this site "Brent94z". ive seen posts where some call his z (the burgundy one) riced out, blah blah blah. personally, i find it beautiful. everything works on his car (appearance wise), the hood with the spoiler go great together, and the paintjob is sweet as well. or what about that other guy, "crackhead" or something? some call his z rice as well. i find its gorgeous. those 2 cars are perfect examples of appearance mods that have been well executed , look good, not rice (well not in my book at least) and have the power to back them up .theres no little neons, altezzas, little blue lights, huge "sponsor" decals, or crap like that. yes they do both have big spoilers, but it suits the application. now if you value the opinion of "the import guys" more than the opinion of your fellow f-body guys, then what the f**k are you doing here anyway? shouldnt you be on mycivicbeatyourcivec.com? again, try not to take this like im beeing a d**k, k? have a good one.
