lt1 style tail light on 02

i know some may disagree with me, but i think the addition of the orange section of the tail ligth in 97 was a terrible decision. i have a 2002 z28, and i'd like to put older style tail lights on it (93-96). From what i understand, it will bolt up with no problem. My concern is that the bulbs will not match. Anybody know what modifications i would need to perform to make it work? (one idea i had was to take the lens off of my current lights, and just replace those, but im not sure if thats a good idea)

i dont know i LOVE the newer ones MUCH better then the older but thats just me..

they should just change right out.. i have a friend with a 02 ss and he changed the stock ones with reverse style and they just swaped right out, not 100% sure if that is the same with the stock ones but should not be too hard.

haha, fancy meeting you again. well, maybe its just that my car is maroon (close to red), so the orange sticks out like a sore thumb. from what i notice,d when you use your turn signal on the older ones, the same bulb used for braking flashes. but the newer ones have a separate bulb. thats what i think is going to cause a problem

We did it in my sons 98 and I dont remember any issues except the bulbs not fitting in the taillight tabs real easy. We did not even rewire anything. It all seems to work good.

haha yeah right... I got you that maroon color is tough and I agree with that color would look good w/o the orange signal color.

good luck!

That's covered in the link fbodyrs96 provided, so im not too worried. Now just have to get a pair of those. There's a junk yard ~60 miles from where i live, and last time i went there, they had 2 or 3 older fbods with good tail lights. i wish i had picked some up then...they would charge me $34 for the pair

if you don't rewire it they won't light correctly. but they wil still work.

well, worst that can happen is i get too mad at it to keep trying to make it light correctly, and i go back to stock wiring, and have it work well enough
