Mega-Shifter install on 95' Z Pics

I have installed a B&M Mega shifter in my 95' Z and I'm going to try to put up a step-by-step for others that may be interested in doing it too
[IMG][/IMG]

Stock shifter removed, yes this car used to be owned by a smoker, uck! lol
Cables are as follows:
Shifter/brake interlock solenoid, keeps the shifter locked until you press the brake. Don't worry about hooking it back up. Just tie the wire back.
Shifter Cable, Self explainatory.
Park/Lock Cable, Goes up the column to the switch block. Locks the shifter until the key is turned on. Tie it back.

Plug from the black box, Nss, reverse light and hatch safety.
There are 6 wires coming from the black connector on the right side of the shifter. Two are for reverse lights, two are for neutral saftey switch (nss), and two for the rear hatch release.
Wires numbered left to right, Big Brown=#1, Big Yellow=#2, Green=#3, Small Brown=#4, Orange/Black=#5, Black/blue=#6
The big yellow #1 and big brown #2 are for the nss. I just connected these two together, never did like having to put in P or N to start.
The small brown #4 and light green #3 are for the back up lights. Connect to NSS on shifter.
And the last two, #5&6 are for the rear hatch release. It will only open if you are in park but if you connect it to an aftermarket nss it will blow the fuse so just connected them together.

Test fitting the console

Set the console back in place and set the shifter in place. Set your seat in the normal driving position and find the most comfortable position for the shifter. One screw holding the shifter in place, try the rachet and see if you like the position.

The front left bolt seems to be the best place for me. You will need to use the supplied "Z" bracket to adjust the rear height of the shifter. I cut mine to fit and milled the slots longer.

Shifter installed and cover cut and in place. Using the factory cover, remove the indicator assembly and cut the center divider out. I had to trim a little from the front and rear of the slot to allow the shifter to make full travel without hitting.
Hope you don't smoke, cause you are going to loose the ashtray on this install. Shifter takes up the space below it.

Good job! Install a manual shift bezel and it would look even better IMO.

Bezel

I've been trying to find one. Most folks don't want to seperate it and the console. Still looking....

Do you have a picture of the shifter with the trimmed top piece in place? Looks good!

Sure, On post #7 is the A4 Bezel trimmed out and in place. I'm trying to find a M6 bezel and boot. I think it is a direct replacement for this one and will look great on here. I believe the M6 and A4 shifter postion are the same, if not I am going to toss a piece of aluminum plate on the mill and make a bezel to fit the modded A4 bezel. Hoping to find a quick swap piece first.

I haven't paid a lot of attention to that, but I believe the manual shifter is much further forward because the ash tray is in a different spot.

Shifter

That's what I was thinking, I was trying to find a picture of one to compare it to. I think it would have to be a 95' to fit the console.
