New pics of nose drop and eng compartment

I posted a new thread 'cause my other one was in a forum that wasn't getting any attention. Hope no one minds

Here's a link to show some pics after I lowered the front with Eibach Sportlines. Dropped it 2" each side. I left the rear stock height. As you can see I took the chin spoiler off. It is my DD and I don't want to be a snow plow any more than I will already. I'll put it back on in the spring.

I also took some better pics of my engine compartment. Those pics are on page 2.

Let me know what you think. Thanks, Jim

The air dam is crucial to proper engine cooling. You will very likely have problems overheating without it. Our cars are bottom breathers. There is no grille. They depend on the airdam to get air through the radiator.

Watch that temp gauge!

Re: New pics of nose drop and eng compartment

I know the spoiler directs air into the radiator. Actually it seems like a pretty good design. However, I have a manual fan switch. I keep a close eye on the temp and turn the fan on before the temp climbs.

Thanks.

Re: New pics of nose drop and eng compartment

I hope you know your car is going to handle like sh*t now... drop the back or don't turn, and to have a stance like that you need to have BIG meats in the rear.

I know people are going to flame me for being honest but whatever.

To really set that off all you need are some sidepipes, fender flares, and some aweful 70's graphics. I agree, too low in front and too high in the rear.
If you were worried about being a snow plow why a 2" drop??? And I seriously doubt fans can pull as much air as the airdam will divert at speed.

Spitfire and Greed I do appreciate the input. No reason to flame. When you post in these forums you're asking for honest feedback. If I do end up having problems with the temp I will put the airdam back on. I know heat kills. I like the looks of my car. I know I give up some handling and some people don't like it, but that's okay. We all should do what we like/want.

Your problem is you've put the post in the wrong forum both times..... first time is was "Show and Shine", now here on "Suspension....". It should have been post on "Appearance" from the beginning. I'll move it there for you.

Re: New pics of nose drop and eng compartment

I would think that since it is winter, and hopefully only 30 degrees outside where you live, that you shouldn't have problems with overheating... but I could be wrong...

I think it looks fine the way it is. If you like it and the handeling and cooling isn't a problem don't worry about everyone's opinion its your car and money.

Re: New pics of nose drop and eng compartment

Thanks Injuneer for the move and cwaldt for the thumbs up. I have nitced a rise in temp. It will spike if I don't stay on top of it.

Re: New pics of nose drop and eng compartment

You NEED the air dam. Put it back on. A fan switch is not a proper substitute for the air dam.

agreed, the way the car is deisgned, it will not pull air through the radiator unless the air dam forces it up there.

Re: New pics of nose drop and eng compartment

I concur with the air dam.. You need it.... As for lowering the front, I did the same, but only an inch with Edelbrock shocks.... Purpose is the theme I'm going for...70s'....

As for handling, no probs here....

Re: New pics of nose drop and eng compartment

Maybe you should just put the airdam back on and bend it forward a little. Both of our Camaros have the stock airdams, but the '02 is lowered an inch (and therefore the same height as the '95 b/c of wheel size differences) and it doesn't bottom out as often because the airdam is slightly angled forward. The '95's is straight up and down, while the '02's is more of a 30 degree bend forward.

Re: New pics of nose drop and eng compartment

I like it and all but I would have done a few things different;

- I would have only lowered the front end about 1".
- I would have left the front air damn on. I've driven without one on, it's not pretty.
- I would stick on some 17x11s in the rear and 17x9.5s in the front. The wider rear with some meaty tires would really set that classic stance.

All in all, I like the car though! Nice lookin Camaro!
