Optional SLP SS Exhaust (not quad)

How do I get my hands on this? It's the one that comes as an option on the SS's from the dealer from slp. It has the rear piece with two long tips in the center. I did a search with no results. I think I heard that you have to have an SS VIN to order it from slp. Is that correct? Is it possible the next time I see an ss I get its VIN and order one? Nobody makes an aftermarket one do they? What is my best bet for obtaining this way cool rear piece and tips?

If you are talking about the SLP Center Quad Exhaust with the rear bumper fascia, you can order it from tbyrne.

Any of the exhaust setups that SLP puts on the SS are available without SS VINs. The only things that slp wont sell without VINs are items that have "SS" on them or are SS specific ( grills, hoods, spoilers, floor mats, wheels, etc.. ).

Thanks for the response, but if you look at the topic it says (NOT quad). Thanks anyway. It is an option available from the dealer only on ss's. John.

OK, my bad, read my post 2 down....
Yes, SS specific, needs VIN to get it from SLP, but you may not from a dealer...

OHHHHHHHHHH!!!! MY BAD!!!!!!!

i was soo lost on that... Yes, you are right, it is SS specific and you have to have an SS VIN. All it is is the ( Quad ) Center with those two long tips instead of the 4. I am sorry that I misunderstood, I just forgot that the center type set up on the SS just had the 2 long ones!!!

my bad,

Brian

Isn't it basically the same as the dual/dual system BUT with single chrome tips instead of the duals..... just don't install the dual tips. Chrome single ones ought to be available somewhere

Now that we know what exhaust Im talking about maybe we can generate enough interest to get a group purchase, or some kind of discount. I too remember that it cost a bunch. Just a thought. John.

Yeah, bending the pipes wouldn't be hard at all, but that rear fascia is different than the one on the quad set up. The one we're talking about is a one piece rear ground effect. The slp quad is a two piece job.

From the 2002 Camaro SS Owner's Manual Supplement:

Dual Center Mount 335 HP Performance Cat-Back Exhaust System

SLP also offers the dual center mounted 335 Horsepower exhaust system. Significantly larger 3" diameter stainless steel intermediate pipe and over axle-pipe reduces back pressure. Stainless steel muffler with dual outlets allows for maximum flow with minimal back pressure. To give your Camaro SS a distinctive look, the system also includes flush body mount rear fascia extensions and distinctive center dual tips with polished edge.

Replacement Parts:

Catalyst-Back Exhaust System with Centered Exhaust (complete): 10868
--I-pipe: 10168
--Overaxle Assembly: 10166
--Hardware Package: 10169
--Muffler w/ Left & right Tailpipes: 10869
------Tailpipe 90* Adapter Left: 10863
------Tailpipe 90* Adapter Right: 10864
------Clamp, Uni-bolt: 50494
------Tailpipe Tip, Dual Assembly: 10761
--Valance, Rear and Hardware Assembly: 10758
------Rear Valance: 10759
------Tape, PSA .090": 50229
------Tape, PSA .060": 10885
------Pine Tree Fasteners: 50273

There are the part numbers and such. #10868 is the complete package. I *THINK* i remember the package being either $700 or $1300 from the dealer ( those are just the numbers in my head, and someone would have to call SLP to find out the actual prices, availability, and if they would sell without SS VIN ).

The tips on this setup are not chrome, and they look like a cast heavy metal. In reality, there has to be tips like that available somewhere and just use the left and right valances from the Quad setup. The SS valence is barely different from the Quad; it only has a little piece over the center making the valance one piece. It would probably be cheaper that way and you wouldnt have to deal with getting a SS VIN that SLP will accept. Also this would let you keep your current exhaust setup and just have 90* pipes bent to join the tips. .

Anyway, I hope this give you a little more info on the stuff...
