Well the dye cost around $5.50 a can for the VHT red and something like $4.50 for the Plasti-coat black. I can't recall how much of each I used, but I believe the recipts added up to be around $70 for the whole project, (That also included regular black paint for the back plastic pannels).

Yes...they are black. From factory, I origionally had a light / dark gray combination, (Except for parts of the dash and the center console). I changed everything in the car to black - door pannels and the carpet in the map pocket area, floor carpet, headliner, sun visors, parts of the dash, all the plastic trim in the car and of course the seats, which you have already seen. I've slowly been working on the whole project for the past few weeks and finished up with the seats.

And at least 1996 My buddy has them in his 1996 SS. flame red interior

But, yes, it is a very rare option!

John, Thanks. Now that I see how your seats turned out, I'm doing mine in the near future. Did you use VHT Penetrating Colour Dye in Red Satin SP947?
I got my switch from a company called McMaster-Carr out of Atlanta, GA. 404-346-7000. Stock #6944K11, SPST-NO push button sealed pendant switch. $12.14.
Hope that helps.
Fred

Fred, yea...that was the red I used. They also had a flame red which I wish I would have bought instead. The red satin is a deep red, and I sorta wish I would have went with the bright red. And yes, I think I'm going to go with that switch instead of the one I had. Thanks, I appreciate it.

Thanks. I let the seats dry a full 72 hours as they recommended. I then sprayed the seats down with Scotchgard to add some protection.
