Re: taking off side molding???
I did mine with a combination of a heat gun, floss or fishing line, and alot of pulling. I wasnt really concerned about how it came out because i was getting the whole car repainted at the time. But im glad that i did it, it makes that car look alot sleeker.

What did you guys do with your molding after you took it off?
I'm going to sit on this one and think of it some more before I act.
After removing the adhesive and cleaning it up will I still notice where the molding was after 7 years of being on?
I've noticed alot of new cars dont have side molding, atleast the Camaro is plastic and fiberglass, but my last Z24 started to rust from the molding.
Cant decide!!!

Re: taking off side molding???
i took it off the 11 year old paint on my car and you can not tell it was ever there. i would say that there isnt anything to be concerned about, except, make sure you use the dental floss the whole way; i thought that once i got started, i could just pull it off. didnt work very well. it took about 3 inches of clearcoat off.

if there are marks left in the paint they can be buffed out with a rotary buffer... of course not everyone has one of those. Im probably going to take mine off too once i get my paint work done.

I'd probably use a heat gun and work very slowly!
I'm going to think some more, i'd leave it on if it werent for the fact that the molding is loosing it's color.

Re: taking off side molding???
it worked great for me. one thing to remember is that our door moldings are useless. Honestly, line up doors to ours. Almost every door that I've held up against my door, they hit above my door molding.
