Re: worrying about blackouts....
I had blackouts on my old z28 when it was rear ended and totalled.
When the cop came, the man who rear ended me started screaming and ranting that my brake lights didn't work and thats why he hit me.
He was big time when the cop told him he didn't care if there were no brake lights on my car period, as I was completely stopped for a solid 45 seconds before he hit me and even if he wasn't able to view my lights, since I was stopped, he failed to control his vehicle properly.
He was ticketed for failure to control, speeding, and I believe wreckless driving as well, not sure on that one though.
At any rate, I wouldn't worry about it, if someone rearends you, it's pretty much there fault regardless of anything else.

Re: worrying about blackouts....
i heard that too...
no matter what the conditions are, its their fault for not paying attention. becuase if you think about it, if someone rear ends someone whose brake lights aren't working AT ALL, the person who did it is still at fault.
would it be possible of a more complex case if the person who got rear ended being at fault?? i hear rear endings are the person who did it, ALWAYS..
meh, i won't worry about it, ill buy them tomorrow

Re: worrying about blackouts....
I use to have blackout's until a state trooper pulled me over for them and told me it was a $150 fine unless I took them off today. I have sent gone to export taillights but when you hit your brakes with all the brands I have seen you can really see the brake lights so if they hit you it's not your fault but there's for not paying attention.

Re: worrying about blackouts....
Motorcycles only have one brake light. My car has three, two are blacked out. Im better off than a motorcycle anyway. oh, theyre illegal where i live, but the car isnt my daily driver. so im not too concerned about the accident thing.

Re: worrying about blackouts....
The law states that if they cause a visibility issue from X distance, then they are illegal. Every cop I have talked to has said the same. They all said that blackouts are legal. I have had them for 2.5 years with not 1 problem.

You have to check your state law..... Some blackouts are marked as for showroom only.... As far as an accident, the blackout could be a contributing factor...JMO
