I think the '70s actually lasted for at least two decades....with a couple of exceptions, of course.

ZO What?

The anwser. ZO IS a REAL car in Production NOW for high 40s in a purpose built frame for PERFORMANCE NOW!!! That gets decent Gas milage and is ULEV.

V10 427 Mustang?

The Anwser= A fantasy on this message board. If it ever becomes reality in 3 or four years judge it against a C6 Z06/ZR1 replacement. That is rumored to have 500- 550 HP from a N/A much smaller motor in a car that will come in at 300 lbs below the current Z06. At an inflation Adjusted same price as the Current Z06. Not 100K or 60K for a Bastardized Lincoln LS.

So.... Ford GT Mustang V8 What......???....

well if you want to futher this fantasy world of yours heres some TIDBITS...

judging from your sarcastic NA tone i dont think you realize that the 427 will ALSO be NA but more cubes, that add up to the 590hp which still outdoes the 500-550 in the rumored z06, ITS ALL IN THE FUTURE PEOPLE, so lets just sit back and watch at what unfolds , hell put chevy vs. ford squabblry (i know i didnt spell that right) aside for a minute and lets enjoy the fact that whatever the offerings are going to be its gonna STILL be putting a step on the import market (ever since the new freaking accord runs mid 14's stock), and we can all enjoy american high tech performance...

With alot of muscle cars making their returns in a few years, it becoming super competitive, and the use of power adders becoming more common, I'm starting to wonder just how fast cars are gonna get?!?!

Seriously though, some 4ths got into really high 12's/low 13's. The Z06 is like 405HP, the M*****gs' top car isn't far behind. The LS6 is going into the 05 GTO, Chrysler is gonna become HEMI crazy wanting to put them in everything, possibly a Charger. The C6 is gonna have some kind of crazy power and some new tech. The Camaro will come back sometime to compete with the M*****g and anything else again. I mean, are we gonna have 10-11 second cars from the factory in a few years or something?! Hopefully the speed won't affect the prices much.

Everything is getting nuts. I think you can say that a new Viper gets 11's stock and some will say a ZO6 can just dip below 12's. I think 10's from the factory is not far off for limited models such as a Corvette ZO6. Craziness

In my opionion...it will peak soon. Power ratings will come down due to some outside influence. There is no way that this pace will keep up. It has to end somewhere IMHO...

Agreed. It's called gas=$3.50/gal - just like the '70's again.

NBC news last night speculated gas to hit $2.00/gal by this summer. Did anybody else see it - talking about SUVs and limiting production, sizes, and/or mileage mins? BOY, you talk about getting shot in the foot, if the government puts limits on SUVs like they are talking of, costs will skyrocket, sales will plummet, and our economy will REALLY go in the sh1++er then! How would you like to be Ford or GM sinking billions into developing SUVs and then find out you must spend billions more, or drop it!

The war(?) with Iraq, Venezuela's strike, and the Korean nuke conflict are all combining to put burdens on fuel makers for logistics and supply too. I see this as the gauntlet for our recent horsepower craze. It won't go on like this much longer. It CAN'T.

I don't see why a "scuffle" with Iraq would rase gas prices. The LARGEST UNTAPPED and most under used oil is in Russia. The US has been working with the Russians to get aces to this. If prices go up soon its because The oil companys are freeking greedy.

They always say that gas prices will go up dramatically but it never really happens. I think there is still years left in the current HP wars but of course something will happen to hurt it but lets hope things don't get as bad as the 70's.
