I havent had any problems with my 98 Z28, like some of you guys have.
The t-tops never leak or rattle, windows work fine too.
Never had any problems with it, besides the front rotors did warp and had to replace them.
Besides that, never had any problems till i started modifying it.

And if you try to say the 97-02 interior looks cheap.....get into a late model mustang
My sister has a 98 rustang, that i drive daily while my Z is in hibernation, and i must say it is the CHEAPEST looking/feeling interior i have been in, for a car of this year.
They put the cheap squeaky plastic in all the wrong places.
And dont make me start on the ergonimics of this car.....people over 6ft, beware!
Im only 6'2, and driving this car is a pain in the @$$.....theres no lumbar control for the seats, and that is a must have for tall people in mustangs.....I see over the long dashboard in my Camaro WAYYYY better than the stangs'. The shifter blocks the CD player controls when its in "Park", and the spoiler really blocks the view.

So before knocking down the Fbody's interior, look at its closest rival and you will think of your car as light years ahead in quality and ergonomics.

Since we are bashing our Camaro's I have one thing to add.

The only problem I have had is the chrome 10 spoke SS wheels keep pitting, badly. I am not going to put on anymore. It is still covered by waranty but I want better looking wheels that wont pit if you dont wash the car for a week.

I put 38K on my 99 Formula with very few problems. I did go thru two sets of front rotors under warranty, although I believe that was partly my fault since I am brutally hard on my brakes! My T-tops didn't leak, my power windows didn't fail, and my engine didn't have any real oil consumption to speak of (although it would typically be down 8-16 OZ at each oil change). My 02 Trans Am is perfect so far, of course I only have 4k miles on it

One thing though, I think it's important to differentiate between quality of design and quality of manufacture. It seems a lot of folks don't keep the big picture in mind when judging these cars... their design is so good in so many dimensions:

1. world-class LS1 and V6 powerplants - high power and torque, high mileage, low maintenance
2. ergonomic interior designs with steering-wheel mounted stereo controls
3. distinctive and functional styling with versatile hatchback and folding rear seat (carries more lumber than a Mustang!)
4. excellent crashworthiness and active safety features such as quick-reacting traction control

Also I'd like to give my list of Quality Attributes I Do Not Care About:

1. Ultra-tight and uniform exterior panel gaps and interior trim fitment
2. Doors that close with "just the right sound"
3. Complete lack of visible interior fasteners
4. Engines that cannot be heard at idle
5. Baby-soft leather trim and burnished-wood/"titanium" interior trim
6. Tastefully bland styling
