6th Gen Camaro top powertrain poll....

Inspired by Jay Leno's SEMA car, assuming similar power, would you rather have a turbo V6 or NA V8 in the 6th gen Camaro?

It is a Camaro, until gas is $10 a gallon Camaro needs a V8.

Now what if the only V8 was a SIDI 5.3L or 5.5L putting out 400HP and the top engine was a 450HP 4.0L V6, is that even possible?

V8. Period.

There isn't even a question on this, IMO.

x 2. There no replacing the sound of a V8. It doesn't necessarily have to be a 6.2 liter V8 like we're getting now, but it does need to be powerful. Ford made decently quick cars with an engine that wasn't even 5 liters. It must be a V8, though.

We know Camaro has to "me too" after Mustang, and the Mustang TTV6 is dead in favor of the V8. As such Camaro is getting a V8. We also know the GenV V8 will be a cheaper, smaller, and likely lighter engine to shove under the hood than a TT V6.

We also know the majority of people around here want a V8.

So why make this poll, unless you know something new?

Exactly.

Give me a 5-ish litre OHV DI V8 (would 3-valve heads be asking too much?) making high-300s in horsepower, and I would be happy. Especially if the weight comes down in the mid-3000 range.

Of course if they continue on with the retro styling, that will kill the deal for me no matter what engine is under the hood.

My choice wasn't available...

Twin-turbo biodiesel V8.

1kilo-watt electric motor fed by a gas turbine generator, that runs on cheap beer.

Exactly. Now that the Mustang V8 mafia has won, I can't see GM taking Camaro in a different direction if they can at all help it.

V8 should ALWAYS be the top motor. Even if production is limited to 4 digits.
