It's not that the V8 mafia has won...its all in the timing...

I know...maybe the question should have been for "midlevel powertrain".

The optional engine would be faster than the V8, especially with just a few minor mods.

Which is why the top engine should be a forced induction V8....

I could have put in all sorts of choices, but in the end I wanted to be realistic.

Thats why I think this poll would have been more interesting if it were for a "mid-level" engine...since pretty much all top engines now are forced induction.

I think it would still favor the V-8...depending on the specs & MPG differences

They'll just have to bump the V8 power then. Plus I don't think they take mods into account since the majority of people won't mod the car.

The TT V6 shouldn't be the top engine if they don't even offer it in the Corvette. When they offer a TT V6 in the Corvette, I'd accept a TT V6 as top engine in the Camaro.

An available V8 is a requirement so long as the badge reads Camaro.

V8 all the way , no questions .

I think GM should really expand into turbocharging the 3.6 though , and I do think it should be available in a Camaro . A v6 can sound dead sexy ...vq , vr6 and GM oddly enuff with the 3.6 in the camaro <-- very vq'ish sounding . With a pair of turbos it can only sound better

Z284ever it's interesting that you started this pole today...Chrysler announced this today for the Challenger....

Dodge brand chief Ralph Gilles said the car will feature a “class-leading” interior to match the dramatic new exterior. The car will come standard with a V6, while the more powerful R/T variant will likely have a turbocharged V6 rather than the current V8.

I'm sure the SRT model will still be a V-8 though....

V8, hands down. It wouldn't be a Camaro without it.

Exactly! Something along those lines would do nicely, just throw in a nice handling package and have a mid-3000lb car and you got a deal. Speaking of such things, is there still a Trans-Am series of races? If so, this could open up wonderful possibilities..

Also there is one V6 that I've heard that actually has awesome sound. At a 4th of July car show I was parked next to a 1989 TTA pace car (has the Buick Grand National V6) and it sounded like he had a crate big block installed when he fired it up. But not the case, the engine as far as I know was 100% original.

EDIT: You can sorta see the car in the background in my sig pic, it's the white Trans-Am.

Realistic? Maybe in your mind. Again Charlie, I think you're carefully selecting the choices to weigh in favor of what you personally would like to see in a 6th Gen Camaro.

A better poll could have been:

Assuming the 6th Gen Camaro weighs as much as 500-lb less than the current model, what would be your choice for the top powertrain?

A. A 400hp Turbo V6
B. A 400hp N/A V8
C. I don't know
D. I don't care as long as it smokes the top Mustang and top Challenger
