If the Z28 gets built I think that will be the last factory forced induction V8 Camaro ever. It is just too much power. The LS3 SS is already the most power Camaro ever how much more HP can you have while still keeping it a main stream street car. With all the new technology in the Gen V V8 a 6.2L will be a 500HP engine. That is more power than even a Corvette had up until 2006.

I realistically don't see the 6th gen having more than 450HP in its top engine, which combined with a 3500lbs. curb weight will be plenty.

I think all cars in general have reached what can be considered "enough" HP. Does the general public need anything more than 403HP Silverados and 365HP Tauruses?

I think we have hit the HP ceiling and you are going to see more focus on mpg in the future.

No, I just threw that in. However I'm guessing your intent was that the turbo V6 and N/A V8 would put out similar power, which isn't clear in the original poll. Or am I mistaken?

I think that is just assumed since we know both will be well over 400HP and under 500HP . 7.0L is done after this generation.

A lot of focus. GM (I think) got suprised at how many V8's are selling over V6's. If that trend continues, improving V8 economy is paramount. Luckily, the GenV will not dissapoint.

I keep trying to see if I can dig up any other displacements under development - but right now it's still 5.3 and 6.2 for the Gen V.

After talking to the two designers of the concept as well as other people from GM - I'd call it all hype and fantasy.

The 4.8 has only a tiny improvement in fuel economy over the 5.3. The main point of it seems to be to allow GM to charge more for the 5.3.

I've got to believe that if there were a significant efficiency improvement in a V8 smaller than 5.3, GM would build it. The GM Powertrain guys are not dumb.

The 5.3 and 6.2 are far enough apart in MPG and power that it makes sense to build both.
