Solstice was not a car GM planned to produce when it was shown on the auto show circuit in 2002. Overwhelming customer response put the wheels in motion there. And I'm sorry, has Chrysler "officially announced" a 2009 Challenger? Reading comprehension sir:
Chicago Tribute:Insiders insist the concept is meant strictly to test consumer reaction. A business case hasn't been developed, and it hasn't been given a production go-ahead.
I see a couple of "hasnt's" in there.

Talk about lazy. If that's not real enough for you, well then you deserve a 2011 Camaro.
What did you know about the 2005 Mustang before the concept was shown? Seriously, as far as styling all you had was....gasp....rumor. We knew a new Mustang was coming before the concept was shown only because it was never announced that Mustang was finished. Again, it's all an assumption game.
This question has been answered so many times is it really necessary to even go there?

Pretty sure we knew back in early '02 about the retro styling and the 3V.
Riiight, the whole CAW thing. The plant's gone. GM is outta da woods friend.
Again, DCX has not "announced" a damn thing regarding a possible Challenger.
You are perhaps the biggest Ford fanboy in the 5th Gen forum, and it shows. You're on a Chevy site, are we not supposed to like and trust someone with such a passionate and intimate knowledge of all things Camaro like RP? Please.
You'll be hearing about it by the end of the year, I'm pretty sure.

Keep repeating that mantra here. Keep taking your own fanboy comfort in whatever thoughts you'd like. By 2010 there will be at least one direct Mustang competitor on the market, uhh, much to your chagrin.

And you can't reference two different sources when the second one obviously used the first one as it's only source of information. That's just not right.

What's with this guy?
Did he lose a bunch of races in his Fox-body to some gleaming new 4th-gens way back when? It's like he's got an axe to grind and a chip to deal with at the same time.

Slap an LS2 into a cheap body with good styling sell it for 25K and watch Mustang sales plumet.
Too bad GM is retarded.
They'll keep on churning out boring front wheel drive vehicles. I wouldn't be surprised if they started making their SUV/Truck line up front wheel drive.

DCX has traditionally been looser-lipped about their future products than most others. Even then, you still don't see one official word from anyone at Chrysler about a Challenger. So what's the difference between a news rag reporting about a future product and "The F-bod Father" saying keep the faith? Both reports require a certain amount of "faith" in their accuracy, since no one "official" can talk.

There's a difference. The industrial auto news world has no reason to spin stuff.

Seems like the Ford boys have got their panties in a bunch again......
And thats coming from a guy that likes GM AND Ford. Seriously guys, if this topic upsets you, DONT READ IT! Instead of prattling off useless pablum, why not sit back and wait and see if a new Camaro comes out. If it doesnt, you can say I told you so.
Sheesh, take a chill pill......

However, as far as this future product goes, I hope they've got better stuff coming than I've heard about. A slew of FWD/AWD vehicles is cool to some, but not to all. Hopefully I'm wrong. The last thing I want to see is Ford being taken over by Toyota or even worse, going under
As far as missing the boat goes, people said Lexus missed the boat in the early 90's. Now they're captain of the damn ship.....

"The information that we receive is from very different sources," she said. "It sounded like they were certainly interested in the prospect of going after a product like the Mustang. . .There's certainly no reason that DaimlerChrysler couldn't try and go after some of that volume."" That's from the thread here http://web.camaross.com/forums/showthread.php?t=377374 And now someone has a story with her as the only named source, and from this quote, it doesn't sound like she knows anything more than what she thinks would be smart for them to do, or what they might be interested in doing. No one told her they are going to produce it.
So there is a difference. That being that you will dismiss everything from Scott, Guy, Charlie, and others while passing some half quoted story from some automotive website as the truth. Even though you want something to be true, you should still look at it with an outsiders view and make a decision based on what is put in front of you, not what you blindly hope for. There most likely will be a Camaro, and it most likely wont take them until 2010. Get over it.

Re: Autoextremist: "Don't be surprised to see a Camaro concept this January".
I doubt there will ever be a true concept. There might be a "95% production ready" model.
There was no Corvette concpet, just a "Here it is, please buy one model"
Think of the up roar if they come out with some hot looking concept and then deliver 3 or 4 years later a watered down version.
When GM showed the Solstice concept, it looked good. Then some IDIOT had the bright idea to show a near production model and the concept at a future NAIAS(I forget which year) within sight of each other. I stood in the middle of them and looked back and forth and said, "Well, as usual the concept looks better, as you would expect it to." I'm sure I'm not the only person that did that. The production model will never look as good, so to show both at the NAIAS was a very dumb move.
The final thing, it will be 54 months(I think) from the initial concept to a person can walk into a Pontiac dealer and walk out with a Solstice.
The car has been seen so much, it seems a bit old(but still looks good) and hasn't even come out yet. They did the same thing with the SSR.
Do you really want that for the Camaro too?

Aight, I know I'm just some 530 post guy with not a high post count, but I just got back from Camaro Superfest where there were MANY high ranking Chevy employees and there was a definite confirmation that we'll see it this January.

Seriously, thanks for another positive tidbit.
