Also, just as the hype for the C6/ZO6 would be dying down some, Chevy shows the Camaro concept and really stuns everyone and keeps the focus on Chevy. This would also create a feeling that Chevy is really serious about performance and style. Then we would see the return of the 1-2 punch that is Corvette-Camaro.

Damnit if they parade that "SS Concept" again, and even insinuate that it's the next Camaro, I'll go out and buy two Mustangs!

I did read the comment after the above thread restating that Scott says there's no relationship, so I'm "keeping the faith."

For the last 6 years we've been led around in circles like a bull with a nose ring.

Just when people would get upset Scott would come in here and calm us down. i don't mean just us CZ28er's but i am talking about nearly every camaro enthusiast on the net. It's alot for one guy to do in his spare time (and not get paid for). I think most of us will agree that the main reason there is any faith is because of his dedication to get us a car, and not because of the millions of hints/peaks/rumors/"credible sources" etc. that all turn out to be dead ends (or the rumor is slightly altered by another one and accompanied by a " ")

I feel a do or die time is coming very soon for the majority of those looking for a 5th gen, and it will probably be whatever the new mopar is cooking.

Re: Autoextremist: "Don't be surprised to see a Camaro concept this January".

I think GM should produce a Camaro concept for this years NAIAS much like Ford did with their ’05 Mustang concepts.
Something along the lines of what the actual production car but not exactly.

Something to test the waters with. They won’t even have to call it a Camaro.

But they should do something a bit more focused than the “SS concept”. That car was too vague and left everyone guessing what its styling was going to be applied to.

Then in mid ’06 the buzz will die down yet by then hints will start trickling out about the F5 even though no one knows the true styling. ’06 NAIAS rolls around Gm should show the production model. Mid ’07 start selling the damn things as ’08 models.

If GM can hit that schedule it will work perfect.

Also in 2 ½ years the 05’ Mustang body will start getting a bit old and we still beat the Dodge/Chrysler car by a year.

Now, maybe I'm really stretching to make 2+2 equal 4 here, but I do kind of find it interesting. Maybe I'm just searching for the perverbial ray of hope.
Interesting observation.....

I think its safe to say that there will be quite a contingent waiting for the '06 NAIAS

I don't think I'd worry too much about the SS Concept.

I see you've got two '69's in your sig. If you like those......

....and this winky is for Bob Cosby

I know how much he loves them.

Gee Charlie, if I made a post like that, I'd get deleted. Heck, look what happened when I started a thread that merely hinted that GM might consider having a RWD coupe at NAIAS.

Good post Charlie.

Re: Autoextremist: "Don't be surprised to see a Camaro concept this January".

Something to think about.

Say Ford is making an average of $2,000 per Mustang sold (and that's probally conservative).

Mazda-Ford's Flat Rock plant is straining to make 180,000 Mustnags per year.

Say there's a 3 year spread between the D2C Mustang and the earliest possible competitor from GM.

This means the geniuses who killed the Camaro to save GM money has given Ford a minimum of $1,080,000,000 (as in BILLION!) not including the $500,000,000 Ford made off the previous 250,000 Mustangs sold during the 2 years it went without a F-body.

That's spotting alot of cash, methinks.

I realize there are limited resources at GM, so I wanta know how the people feel that made the business case for the Solstice instead of Camaro? Seems like all the resources dumped into the Solstice could have produced a new Camaro that would have been here for a Fall 06 introduction. I can't imagine the market for a car like the Solstice could be so great as to legitimize the choice made by GM management.
