The five steps above show how very much you are out of step with reality. (especially the first one.....you can't be serious........)

I'm resentful of your attitude and disruption in that there are a lot of people trying to turn GM around. There is a lot of blame to go around for why GM is in the trouble it's in. But as I've said before, your twenty steps will not solve the problem....and I'm sorry, but I don't buy your claim that the 20 steps will cost GM little, or nothing at all.

And one last time.......at least one of the steps is illegal in some states.

I gladly accept ideas that will turn GM around....but quite frankly, I think you're looking to make a name for yourself......nothing more.
Buickman is a walking example of argument styles... most of them like some poltician's old tricks.

In short order we get Ad hominums, Straw Men, Inflation of conflict, Genetic Fallacy. Argument to the future, Argument by generalization, etc....

Politics... Buickman, you've missed your calling.

Re: Banned in Wilmington

Thanks for the recommendation but I think I'll stay in the car business. GM to announce continuation of GMS tomorrow in spite of published intentions. Dealers will go ballistic. See front page of today's Auto News. Value pricing is too drastic a move and will be the cause of tremendous losses. Lease pull ahead also starts tomorrow. More gimmicks from the wizards without wisdom. Guess we'll all shortly see who is right and who is wrong. The third quarter will be one of the worst on record. Mark my words.
As to eleven years of failure, see market share and total shareholder value. Anyone who sees the record as anything but utter self-destruction is only fooling themselves.

How many times are you going to try to claim that it is all his fault?

Re: Banned in Wilmington

Hey BM, do you have anything to say about a future Camaro, or are you here only to further your personal agenda and give us updates on your upcoming media appearances. You've voiced your opinion ad nausem about this topic, do you have any other reason to be here? Not trying to flame, but for the life of me I don't know why this thread isn't locked. I'd like to hear some dealer opinion on a new Camaro, but I just don't see that you're interested in having any discussion other than one that furthers your own agenda.

How about tackling this one...which should be top dog, SS or Z/28

He knows what I mean, I'm just curious to see if he'll take on a topic that doesn't revolve around getting Waggoner fired, or that has nothing to do with his PLAN.

Re: Banned in Wilmington

My purpose here is to discuss the merits and weakneses of Return to Greatness. My goal is the improvement of GM, the company I love. I have no personal vendetta against Wagoner, only point out his failure as head of NAO and as CEO.
The first twenty steps deal with things mainly on the retail level. Product is also addresed, just in the next forty. Without any doubt, GM should introduce a new Camaro as soon as possible, with the Z28 as "king of the road" in the segment. I've seen some very exciting concepts and truly feel the car would expode on the scene. The car never should have been discontinued to begin with. When it does return, it must not be a pretender. GM should form a panel of enthusiasts from this site to help guide in development of styling, features, colors, interiors, etc...

Wow, you almost managed to sell me on it. Then I remembered I'm talking to Buickman, the Super Salesman!

That statement's so generic it's funny.

Today is Aug 2... I can't find anything about an extended GMS to the public program... yet anyway. I do see new "Total Value Pricing" ads though.

EDIT: A few websites are reporting an extention, but it's still not up on any official GM site yet.

Value pricing is too drastic a move and will be the cause of tremendous losses.
OK, you don't approve of a rebate, and you don't approve of a lower MSRP... yet you approve of removing destination charges? Six in one hand, half dozen in the other...

Lease pull ahead also starts tomorrow.
Good! I LOVE this program. Any word on how far out they are allowing you to "pull ahead"?

I don't really understand why you dislike Lease Pull Aheads.... by offering this, you "re-capture" the customer by locking them up for another lease term, even if you slightly shorten the existing one.... if you force every leasee to run full term on their leases, you are handing them the equivilency of "Free Agency" in the NFL.... I think Lease Pull aheads are brilliant!

More gimmicks from the wizards without wisdom. Guess we'll all shortly see who is right and who is wrong. The third quarter will be one of the worst on record. Mark my words.
We'll see... but I get the feeling you are going to bang your drum until GM ever would go out of business....even if they become the #1 company in the world in all aspects. It truely seems like you automatically disapprove of ANYTHING they do....

We've gone over this a million times, but, once again... look how DCX and FoMoCo have faired over the same period of time... you are not considering the uncontrollables of the economic environment at all...

But, interestingly enough... FORD (who was complaining about it when GM offered it initially) seems to be continuing their Employee Discount Program....

GM pioneered the latest crop of extreme rebates in the wake of Sept. 11 with its "Keep America Rolling" campaign of zero-percent financing. The employee-discount program, the most recent and some analysts say, most clever and clearsighted offering, is credited with boosting sales by 47 percent in June and in clearing out GM's stock of 2005 models. While GM is lowering prices on 30 of its 76 models-cars, like the Malibu and Ion, and is adding warranty coverage to Buick and HUMMER, Ford is keeping employee-discount pricing on its 2005 vehicles and adding the plan to its Escape, Expedition, and Navigator SUVs and the Econoline van for the 2006 model year, through Sept. 6. At press time Chrysler had not announced its future incentives.

GM does many things right, howver it's like a light bulb. You only worry about changing it when it burns out. Personally, lease oull aheads are great for my own sales, but GM loses by incurring charges and heavily discounting the new replacement sales or lease. You can't keep losing money and stay in business.
