Haven't had a chance to look up those numbers for you as yet, but I know our Chevy deliveries were lower this year in June and July. GMS for everyone was actually a detriment in Flint as our customers get it anyway. They felt it was no blg deal and sat out.

We're in for a world of hurt in the third quarter. The new truck product won't hit til after New Year's, the Lucerne and Solstice won't be available in any numbers. Dealers are being cautious on '06 orders. Get ready for the bloodbath of red ink.

Much as you and other GM cynics seem to rub their hands together, GM keeps rolling along, delighting owners of new C6 Corvettes, CTS-V sedans and H2 Hummers. Instead of making it your job to whine about Wagoner... maybe you should go sell Toyotas... seems to be where you belong.

We lose twenty points of market share, continue to lose billions by the quarter, and drop $50 Billion in market cap. Our debt is junk and tens of thousands face job loss and the prospect of reduced benefits and pensions. You call pointing that out "whining"? No doubt GM is doing somethings right, but the best move the corporation could make is to put Wagoner, and his top 50 "yes men", in the jobs bank.

It's mighty simple-minded to blame Wagoner and his crew for constraints not of his making. Did he create the UAW/CAW? Make contracts decades ago committing pensions and health care to GM's aging workforce? Did he raise the price of oil, making it more difficult to move the trucks which are GM's bread and butter? Actually I won't be surprised if you find a way to blame him for this, and more (after all, he IS the great Satan you know )

If you are the wise sage you purport to be - clue us in. How should GM deal with the above? THOSE are the difficult issues, not the trifles your wonder-prescription offers (deleting destination charges - - give me a break!).

And I stand by my observation of the whining I see here. I swear, it sounds like you are HOPING that GM has a bad third quarter, so you can watch your arch-enemy Wagoner twist in the wind

1. Treat ALL employees and retirees with respect, build lasting trust, and there no longer is a need for any union.
2. New hires at $13/hour, co-pays, deductibles, and a 401K.
3. Implement Southwest Institute technologies and raise CAFE 5mpg using exisiting materials.
4. Return to Greatness involves virtually cost or risk. To refuse any attempt at the efforts detailed in the first twenty steps is not only incompetency, it is corruption in its truest sense.
5. I have nothing personally against Mr Wagoner. In fact, I hear he is a fine man. Its his record as head of NAO, and as CEO, that brings the call for him to resign. Eleven years of failure is enough. Time for him to hit the showers and go to the bullpen.

I had to chuckle when I read #1 above. Why on Earth didn't I think of that! All they need to do is state this when they open the 2007 UAW negotiations - and I'm sure UAW/CAW will immediately DISMANTLE their whole union! What luminary brilliance! Not! As for #2, that's even more generous than the benefits already in place at plants like the one in Mexico where the Rendezvous is assembled. So I believe the leadership is *just a little* ahead of your supreme vision already. Point #3 - - kind of hits home with me. I've got to say... I don't give a rat's A$$ about MPG. Power, Torque, acceleration are the keys when I go car shopping. I know GM is responsible enough to offer vehicles with good fuel economy (gads - look at the LS1 or even the LT1 in late model FBodies) but also balance this with other customer priorities. Point #4 only reinforces how naive you are. Really, no cost or risk? Come on. Even changes like "deleting" destination charges. That change alone carries a major marketing cost, involving training thousands of dealer personnel, spreading the word to consumers somehow, trying (in vain) to explain the advantage to them somehow as to why most other makers continue to list the charge separately but GM is now enlightened and is rolling it into the vehicle price (but yes of course you still have to pay it). As for risk - - just about EVERY significant move a large company makes is stoked with risk. If you actually believe otherwise - it's a good thing YOU are not holding the reins of a company the size of GM. And to throw around the term 'corruption' with such carelessness... smacks of ignorance. Corruption has a specific legal meaning, and while I'm no lawyer, I know that if Wagoner and his folks were guilty of it they would already be in jail.

Eleven years of failure? Let's see. In the last 11 years... GM has designed and produced thousands of Cadillac CTS's, LS1-powered Camaros and Firebirds, Grand Prix GTP's and C5 Corvettes (just to name a few). Cars coveted and thoroughly enjoyed by their owners, who were also no doubt enthralled by the overall value they provided for the dollar. In the case of the FBody and the 97+ Prix especially, cars with major performance enhancement potential, just waiting to be tapped. I know because I've been privileged to own two LS1 Firebirds and now have a mildly enhanced LT1 Formula as well as a 2000 Grand Prix GTP. I love my GM cars and am grateful they were built while Wagoner was involved. I'm looking forward to more great creations on the way by him and his dedicated crew

I've tried to be nice......I've tried reasoning........I've even tried counting to 10. We've exchanged emails back and forth.....and you still do not want to listen to someone who knows something about this business.........


The five steps above show how very much you are out of step with reality. (especially the first one.....you can't be serious........)


I'm resentful of your attitude and disruption in that there are a lot of people trying to turn GM around. There is a lot of blame to go around for why GM is in the trouble it's in. But as I've said before, your twenty steps will not solve the problem....and I'm sorry, but I don't buy your claim that the 20 steps will cost GM little, or nothing at all.

And one last time.......at least one of the steps is illegal in some states.

I gladly accept ideas that will turn GM around....but quite frankly, I think you're looking to make a name for yourself......nothing more.

As to your claim that Return to Greatness won't work, how come hundreds upon hundreds of people think it will? You display the same corporate insider mentality that has caused GM to lose so much, a refusal to listen to someone who really DOES KNOW how to move the metal. In a very short time we will see who is right about GMS to everyone. The 3rd quarter will be one of the biggest losses in GM history. You fellas can't fix it, you don't know how. The imports are eating your lunch and are preparing for dinner. It's your own fault, no one else.

Hundreds? There are thousands of people who identify themselves as part of the Jedi religion. Forgive me if I'm unimpressed by your ability to find "hundreds" to beleive in your plan.

That's funny, most people here say he's one of the good guys within GM. And besides, what happening to "respecting all employees?" It seems as if you just blew off everyone who works inside GM management. So where's the repsect?
