Best performance per dollar: LSA Z/28 or base Corvette?

I see the question as unanswerable at this point.
If there's a Z/28, which is not an answered question that allows a direct comparison, only then is there a comparison and subsequent "choice" possible.
No one looks for a Z/28 more than I do. I certainly know what I'd like to see in such a car, but without a known vehicle that can be compared against another vehicle which exists at your local dealer... there is far too much guessing in the mix which prevents a fact based answer or argument from being put forth.

Anyway, we can base our guesses on some already established facts. If there is a Z/28 it may be based on the already in development LSA Camaro. Lots more power/weight/cost. More fun to drive???? I don't know about that.
Another approach might be to focus on the real Z/28 formula. That being of a corner carving roadracer, with improved handling and steering feel compared to the SS, maybe breathing some more power into the LS3, improving gearing, and some sort of (at least show us you're trying) weight loss. All that for a substantially lower cost/weight than an LSA Z/28.
Personally, I'd feel better about approach number two - although I have no idea if this particular car could pull off a real Z/28, to be perfectly honest.

Guessing is what we do here Paul.

I do realize that much here involves speculation. I don't see that as necessarily a bad or good thing... it is what is is.
The tough thing for me is to comment about what car is a better bang for the buck when the specs and price for one of the vehicles isn't known.
An undefined car at an undisclosed price...
judged against the value of a speced car at an announced price...
The question is somewhat premature at best.
I'd rather scrutinize a car comparatively when there's something solid to compare.
If folks choose one Chevrolet over another, I'm actually quite good with it.

No I was thinking 2 separate cars. Both get special tuned racing suspension and weight reduction. But one carries an SC and the other has a NA V8. Perhaps an LSA in the FI edition and the LS7 (or its replacement) in the other.
Both would be built for speed more than the current SS car. Heck they could even do a Cobra-R with one version.

The way they are talking about the 5.0 and its capability to be S/C'd I'd imagine it might be the new GT500 (or what have you) engine.

Well in the April issues of Road & Track & Car & Driver they test the Supercharged 2010Camaro from Lingenfilter and other aftermarket specialists.
One even pits a supercharged Camaro against a Roush Supercharged Mustang GT. The Roush is about a 100lbs lighter - but the Camaro is faster, better handing & stopping abilities. So this is a pretty fair indicator as to how the Z/28 vs. GT 500 Battle may shape up.

I'll have to check that out. Frankly aftermarket tuners used as a basis of comparsion is like arguing which car is better because all you have to do is install mod-X and it nets this result.
Not to beat a dead horse, but did the article mention which brand and type of tires were used? IIRC Roush had some kind of deal going on with General or Cooper?

First - Off I didn't say it would be 100% accurate - just that it's pretty fair indicator for how the face off might shape up.
Naturally there will be other factors that may alter the results a bit - when the Z/28 & GT 500 are finally put face to face.
But for right now - a test that pits a 560-570hp Supercharged LS3 Camaro that weighs about 3,960lbs, against a 540 hp Supercharged Mustang GT, which weighs about 3850 lbs is pretty close representation, of how this High powered Pony Car war may shape up.
